Hi All, I am actually feeling well enough to sit at the computer for a little while so I thought I would give you all some insight on how my days have been. First thing I can tell you is walk!!! It seems to make everything feel a little better! I had this so engrained in me that I was trying to get out of the bed right after surgery when I still had anesthesia in my system and I couldn't stand up with out assistance. But a couple hours later I was able to go to the nursing station and back and 2 1/2days later I did 10 laps around the floor before I got released!! Yes, I have been walking alone in my neighborhood at all times with my pj bottoms on, I don't care!!!! I have been on a soft diet since lunch day 2, they gave me yogurt. I fought with them on everything on my tray because it had sugar in it and even had sugar packets on my tray!! I was screaming about this! I was really careful and ate the items with the least sugar. Cream of Wheat is my new friend, also if you do the shakes like Susan's book you may want to start with 1 scoop of protein powder instead of 2. Talk about grumpy pouchy!!! I have started a food journal today to keep up with my protein. I screwed up right off the bat!!!!! Not intentionally mind you. I sent hubby to the store yesterday for Carnation instant breakfast, I forgot to tell him SF!! So what do I have first thing this morning? A big heaping shake with fat free milk, after I finish I go back and read my bible again(doc's instructions) and while yes it does say instant breakfast several times, it says Sugar-Free!!!! So, I started sipping water very quickly an have been to potty 2 x . Thank Goodness no dumping but make sure you don't miss the small details while taking Vicodin!!!!

Congrats and welcome home!! I agree, walking is VERY important after surgery. I was like you - walking the first chance I got when I got to my room. Then every time I got up to go to the bathroom I did some laps as well. It is so important to not only prevent blood clots but also to get your bowels/digestion system flowing. Whey protein is best absorbed in your body than soy protein, plus it tastes better and is way less gritty. Try some sample packs from online stores to see what flavors you like before getting a HUGE container. Ugh, I hate those containers. Wish they made stuff in 1/4 the size!! Glad you are home and doing well. Keep us posted!! You are off to a positive and awesome start!!! Hugs, Trisha -56 lbs

I'm glad to hear your doing well. My surgery date is Wed....the 18th. It's happening sooo quick because my dr. moved my date up just a few days ago. anyway I read in your post about Susan's book. What is that? Thanks, Janean
