I am near the end of my first week of full liquids and still have another week to go until I can have pureed foods. I am really doing ok with it .....except I am soooo sick of the sweet stuff! All the recipes and things I was given for this stage are sweet. How about you all? What have you / or what are you consuming at your full liquid stage? Thanks for the help! Caren

I know exactly how you feel! Ugh, no more sweet stuff, please... The cream soups help, since they have a nice rich savory flavor and can be doctored up a little (I love lots of black pepper in mine!). Sometimes I'll sip a little chicken broth, too. For protein drinks, I've been using mostly Nectar fruity flavors since they're not as sticky sweet as the chocolate and vanilla shakes. How about ricotta cheese? I've been eating it plain, but I bet it would be exceedingly tasty mixed with a little low-carb spaghetti sauce. (must send my husband out to get some!) I don't know about you, but I'm never going to eat SF Jell-O ever again.

Thanks - I think I'm gonna try the fruity protien drinks too. I'm thinking I can do better with those. Appreciate your suggestions! Oh - I really don't mind the s/f jello in fact I like them.....it's really good with you add some lite Cool Whip.

Excellent - you shouldn't get burned out on the liquid phase then. Good LucK!

My doctors list includes grits and mashed potatoes as part of the full liquid diet. Add water to thin out if it seems to thick for you. Also, you can add tasteless protein powder. Emily Dr. Hart May 25, 2005

Hi Emily The tasteless protein powder! That's exactly what I had been looking for and you cannot just go somewhere like GNC or The Vitamin Shoppe and buy it. They have all the other flavors - chocolate, vanilla, strawberry - but not the tasteless! I ordered some today off the internet from Unjury. I think that will help me out alot! Thanks!

I hear you sister!! I don't go for the sweet stuff in the first place, so it was horrible, UNTIL: Beef Consomme I asked my doctor if I could have beef consomme instead of the broth, and he said yes. It was heaven. Pure bliss. Salty, beefy, thicker a bit than plain broth but still a "clear" liquid. See if any of cambell's soups are clear, like the beef consomme, I am thinking mushroom soup is clear (not cream of) so that should work, too. Good luck!! You can do it!! I'm 6 days away from pureed soups and oatmeal, and I can't wait!

Caren, I'm 13 days out and i'm still on the full liquids/soft foods and plan to be at least a few more days. Yes I told my hubby that I was sick of sweet stuff too I never was too big on eating sweets to begin with before surgery. He says that maybe its because thats what ppl think we will miss the most is sweets. Anyways i'm also eating mashed potatoes, cream soups I like campbells' cheese of broccoli, cream of chicken, peanut butter, saltines, cottage chesse, etc. Of course you can add herbs and salt and pepper to taste Kriss
