Eating too much already?!?
I had my surgery on May 9th, and was released yesterday. My surgeon
did a Lap RNY with a 100 cm bypass. I've yet to feel hungry (which
I've heard is normal), but I've not felt full yet. I'm on a full
liquid diet until next Wednesday when I get my staples out.
Let me tell you what I had for lunch to see if you think it's too
much, too little or just right.
4.5 ounces of chicken noodle soup - pureed
a small container of SF jello
2 fudge popscicles.
I'm afraid I'm eating too much, and I don't want to mess things up!
Any guidance you can give me is much appreciated!
Take care,
Ashleigh

Every surgeon is different, Ashleigh, just call the office and ask them how much you should be injesting at this point. I tried a small jar of beef baby food yesterday (not bad with salt and pepper, tasted just like a real slice of roast beef and gravy) which was 2 ounces. I got through 3/4 of the jar and realized that I probably should not have eaten so much. I was right, pouchie said she was full enough, thank you. For the rest of the day, I could only sip liquids. It's such trial and error at this point, isn't it?
Day 11-down 13 pounds!!!
Good luck, dear!

Wow, we aren't even allowed anything but liquids for the first three weeks. Pureed foods and things like you are eating are three weeks out from surgery for us. I am on liquids, broth, sugar free carnation instant breakfast, jello, crystal ligh****er, juices. I thought that our pouches needed a break, to work back up to real food, like a baby would.
I'm on full liquids, but my nutritionist considers soup that's been pureed to remove chunks to be a liquid. It has to be the consistancy of tomato soup. I am able to eat sf jello, sf popsicles, soups that have been pureed, broth, sf carnation breakfast, slimfast (no carb), crystal light, carbwell drink mix (made with splenda), water, protein drinks, and I think that's it. Oh and the Carbwell yogurt smoothies. They are actually really good!
