I'm not new to Obesityhelp.com, but am to message board posting. Everyone seems to be giving and recieving great advice and support and decided I want to be a part of it also. Wow! Nine days til my Lap RNY, not even sure if it's really sunk in yet or not. I still feel kind of numb. Anyone else afraid to lose the "old you"? Not neccessarily the weight but your sense of self. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks, Angie

Hi Angie - I had my surgery 4 days ago and I feel just great. I'm not afraid to lose the "old me," rather excited to see the me I am supposed to be! Good luck with your surgery. Joanne

The great part of this is, the old you IS the new you... it's just buried within an unhealthy oversized body. (That's not intended to be harsh -- if you didn't think your body was oversized and unhealthy, you wouldn't be doing this, right?) This is your big chance to rescue the healthy you from inside! Congratulations on your new start! Joe

Thanks Joe, I guess I just needed to keep in mind that I'm still the SAME person inside it's just my appearence that's changing. Thanks for pointing that out for me, I guess I needed a opinion from someone other than myself. Thanks, and You're in my thoughts and prayers as you begin your "new start" tomorrow. Best of luck and Congrats. Angie
