May 3rd, am I the only one?
Hi everyone! May 3rd here and MAN has it been a busy couple of days! I'm a homeschooling mom of 2 kids (11yo daughter who will be 12 on Mother's Day, and 7yo son) and I go to college. A couple of weeks ago we were victims of a hit and run, thankfully noone was hurt, but it caused about $3000 worth of damage to our car. So...the last few days have been this: Thursday, had my pre-op which is 2 hours away from my house (the closest surgeon to me), so 2 hours there and 2 hours back and my doc was about 1 hour late for my appointment. Then Friday my kids had a field trip that was about an hour away from my house. Then today I had a pedicure and eyebrow wax (hey, if my tummy's going to hurt, at least my feet and eyebrows will look nice!), got some full liquids and clear liquids for tomorrow and Monday, a hand mixer and a few other things, went to the library and a couple of other errands. Tomorrow I've got to drive a little over 2 hours to get my mom at the airport (2 hours each way), then go over to my church so that the pastor and elders can pray with me, then my daughter has Aikido practice in the evening. Monday my hubby has a dentist appointment and then my son's soccer practice in the afternoon and then my husband and I will be driving down to Seattle to stay in a hotel (since my check-in time to the hospital is at 6:30 a.m.) for the evening. Then Tuesday is the BIG DAY!!!! MY NEW BIRTHDAY!!!
The good thing about all of this is that it's keeping me quite busy and I'm not able to really sit and think about the surgery and get my nerves all up. I'm actually remarkably calm about the whole thing. The only thing that I'm not looking forward to is saying goodbye to my kids on Monday night when I leave to go to the hotel. But tonight I sat them both down and really had a good heart-to-heart with them. I've done this a few times before, but now that it's so close I wanted to do it again. They both asked some very good questions and made me laugh. For some reason they had the idea that I would come home from the hospital skinny, LOL! So, I corrected that misconception.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll have lots more to say as the next day or two drag on, but I wanted to say a quick hello! I didn't even know that this forum existed until today!!
God bless us all this month!!

Good Luck Michelle, I know that you will do great! We have the best doctor around I am having my surgery on May 12th so I am not that far behind you. I too have had those feelings of nerves and cant belive that it is really going to happen.
I live in Bremerton so can relate a little on your distance of travel to and from the hospital and airport, but lucky you.. staying in the hotel the night before!!! wooo hoooo its an extra honeymoon LOL
Cant wait to hear how you are doing after you get done.
