Well, only 10 more days to go! I start my prep on Monday, May 2, with a liquid diet except for 60 g. of protein shakes a day. I feel like I have really let things go to hell--my weight is up to 317, my doc won't let me walk because it aggravates the diabetic ulcer on my foot, and my clothes don't fit any more. I couldn't be more ready. I am nervous--making a living will, in fact. It helps that the people at the hospital are so positive, and so is my friend who is now 3 weeks out and has lost 30 pounds and the pain in her knees is gone. My wife is a wonderful support, and my kids, too. Everyone at work is cheering me on, too. Hope to compare notes with all of you. If you want to seem some interesting stuff, read the April list. --Lee

Hey Robert, I am May 9th too!!!! I know what you mean about letting things get a bit out of control before! The other day I had on a silk shirt and (hope you all can relate here) added another stain while eating around the chest area and thought WOO HOO, this is going in the trash when I get home! I wont need it again! I am on a bit of last meal syndrome, but, I quit smoking too so I have definately been eating a bit more. I do not have to do anything that intrusive prior to surgery, my doc's office just said no eating after midnight the night before. I go for pre-op Friday afternoon. I got my CPAP yesterday and I have a week to break it in before surgery. I am so glad I am not getting this at the last minute because I did pull it off several times last night. Well, we will be big losers before we know it!!!

Dear Lee, You are a brave soul.....and thanks for sharing your feelings with us.....I think it helps everyone, including ourselves, to let out a little bit of the pressure we all feel under. I like the idea that you made a living will. I was wondering if anyone else had done that. I am an RN and have had one for the past 20 years, also a health surrogate and durable power of attorney.....I feel these are important instuments to have, even without facing surgery! So good for you to take care of business.....BUT you are going to do fine! And that foot is going to heal like nobody's business with the controlled blood sugars and lots of protein! I so glad you have a supportive family and network......you are certainly blessed! God Bless you on the 9th......and don't forget to put in a call to your Guardian Angel for OT! We never know where that extra bit of "luck" comes from! I'm right behind you on the 24th......see you on the LOSING SIDE! Blessings! Sally

Hi there! I also have my surgery on May 9th. The time has just flown. So anxious and yet nervous at the same time. I feel like I am on hurry up and wait mode. Well, I hope everything goes okay. Good luck and Best Wishes. Mandy
