Unbelievable Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, this has been an incredible day. The surgeons office called first thing this morning. They wanted to know when my ultrasound was scheduled and to let me know they had everything they needed to submit to the insurance. So, about 20 minutes later, the surgeons office called back but I could not get to the phone fast enough. She left a voice mail asking me to call her back. Immediately I thought they denied me. I called her back and she was freaking out. She said that my insurance approved me over the phone within 15 minutes. She said she has never had that happen before. I got goosebumps and started shaking.
So, now the ball is rolling..... I need to find a flight for my mother. She lives in Iowa and will be staying with us to help with me 3 children. I have to order vitamins, because I have not had time since I just saw the dietician last week. My head is spinning.....
Please send your advice-anyone-anytime!!!!!
So, they wanted to schedule the surgery for May 5th, but that is my 3 year olds b-day and his party is on Saturday the 7th. So, I chose the 12th as my surgery day.
All of the sudden, I am scared to death. It has been so foreign, but now it is reality.
Well, thanks for listening.
Alexis
Hi Alexis - I can totally relate to the "scared to death" feeling! I have just started feeling like that, because when I found my date out, I was all happy. As it draws closer, the more frightened I get! We'll get through this... My date is May 24 - I'll keep you in my prayers if you'll keep me in yours!
Blessings,
Kelley
Congratulations on your surgery date. I have a date of May 11th the say before you. I can also relate to hpw you are feeling. I could have scheduled my surgery for the week after I was approved, but I needed some time to get used to it and for my husband to get some time off of work. I also have three children(all boys) and I will need some help with them after surgery. The time sure does fly by I can't believe surgery is already only two weeks away. Things will be ok and you will get everything done that you need to before surgery. Good Luck with everything and I hope to hear from you on the losing side.

well, do you have the foods your doctor says you can eat in your house for post op? Broths, protein drinks (I like unjury), and a food scale if you need one. Do you have a food processor if you need to puree some foods?
Good you are getting your vitamins, stock up on the things needed to run your house, like laundry soap, diapers, dog food, so you don't have to worry about these things. Get your list of things for the hospital. I have a breathing thing I have to bring, so that in my suitcase already. Is someone sleeping over at the hospital with you? That would be a good idea, should always have someone with you at the hospital. Stick to your pre op diet....don't stray, a fatty liver gives way to more complications.
praying all goes well with y ou and I am happy for your surgery date. Mine is may 16th. We'll be losers together!
Good Luck Alexis! I know the feelings you are having as well...i learned 3 weeks ago that my surgery will be on May 5th..I was both excited and scared! One evening thinking about it, I got a burst of energy and went to WalMart at 1AM no less..LOL..(I cant shop there during the day..it gives me anxiety!!) LOL I was up thinking about the surgery and things and since I couldnt sleep anyway, decided to go get all the things I needed prior to surgery and immediately following. The easiest way for me was to sit down 1st and read thru the literature again and as I did this I made my shopping list. Going in-hand with it to the store made things so much easier, and it took a load off my mind that I have all those things ready. Of course there are last minute things to get..but for the most part I am ready! It took away a bit of that panic feeling for me knowing that I am prepared. Once I got that out of the way, Ive been feeling alot less anxious. Today I go for my pre-op instructions and next week I will be in for my surgery! WooHoo! I just cant wait till its overwith and I'm on the way to a healthier lifestyle. So, for the time being...enjoy your babys' birthday, spend time with your family, appreciate the simple things in life....just be prepared and know that you have alot of people who care about you and support you...not only your family but all of us taking this journey together. You're gonna do great! And so am I! Take care and wishing you all the best
