How excited am I?????!!!!

Hey all, this is a cool little feature of OH's web site. Many thanks to them for putting this together!!! I am going to have my surgery on May 16. I have struggled with various insurers for several years now and finally arrived at one who would cover it. I am so excited, nervous, and scared all at once!!! I can barely focus on anything at work! I have a day's worth of pre-op testing on May 3, then a couple more appointments on the 6th and 10th. I am not looking forward to the all liquid diet starting 7 days pre-op, but I figure that anything that helps the surgeon do his job is worth doing! Even though I am a very large patient (BMI of 67), he feels he can do my surgery laparascopically, so he needs to have me go on a liquid diet to help shrink my liver, so he has better access to the other parts he needs to modify. I am so very excited and am relieved it is, at last, happening for me, too. Thanks and I look forward to reading about everyone else here. - Beth

Hi Elizabeth! Congratulations on finally getting a surgery date... I'm glad you didn't give up earlier. I, too, am large - 400 lbs. BMI 60 and my doc said he can do it with the lap, but as far as I know, I don't have to go on full liquids before the surgery... We'll see - they might be saving that little surprise for later in the game! lol My surgery isn't until May 24. Be sure to keep in touch with the board to let us know how your journey is going! I am excited for you too. I am having surgery the same day and will keep you in my prayers Beth. Just think, we are starting out on a new adventure! Kudos for you for not giving up and caring enough about y ourself to do something for yourself!
