I am very excited about having surgery, but scared. I have never had surgery except when I was five tonsils were taken out. I have heard negative and postivie about htis type of surgery. I hope someone replies because I really need support. Especially from people who have been through this. dina

I am having surgery May 4th and I am so excited. I know so many people who have had the surgery and have no complications. I am sure you will be fine!

Hi Dina! Looks like our surgeries are about the same time! May 24th is my date - what's yours? I have the same excited feelings then they turn to anxiety when I start thinking of the possible complications... I just have to pray about it! Good luck with your weight loss journey! Blessings, Kelley

Hi again, Dina... Having a hard time cutting down on food? Geez, I'm eating everything that isn't nailed down (well, maybe not THAT much!). I feel like I have to eat everything that I won't have after sugery... It's like my last "hooray." My insurance doesn't require any pre-surgery dieting, but I wi**** did - I think having to lose a few pounds would motivate me to get started on this new way of eating. I haven't tried any of the protein sample packets that I ordered - I don't care for the thinck creamy drinks, so I ordered tha more Juice-like supplements. I feel lke if I have them now (and I'm NOT looking forward to drinking them!), I'll be sick of them by the time I really NEED them. Does that make any sense at all? lol ANyway, we'll make it through this Take care and keep in touch! Blessings, Kelley

Take it from someone who's been there many times, it's not going to be nearly as bad as you think it will. Our imaginations can run wild at times like this and through my 2 years of research NO ONE I talked to regretted having it done. In fact, one woman had gained most of her weight back by drinking tons of Diet Coke and was looking into having the surgery done again! Your surgery date is the same as mine. I'll be in Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego at 5 am to start preparing for a 7 am surgery. I can't wait!! I will keep you in my prayers, Dina, but try not to worry, May 23, 2005 will be the first day of the rest of your life! Peg

Hi Dina, I'm so excited for you, and me too. I am scheduled on May 19th. I have alot of people close to me who have had this surgery and they're all doing great. My mother had it also, back in 1988. She's my inspiration, she's healthy and never regretted it. I have never had surgery at all. I only worry about how my kids might feel when I'm in the hospital. You'll do great and wonder what was all the worry about. Good Luck on your journey.
