I've tried doing the liquid diet yesterday and today and failed. I'm nervous that I'm not going to be able to do this diet. If I don't then my surgeon will cancel. I have my pre op appointment w/ him on Monday. I am giving myself this weekend to prepare for the next 2 weeks. I need some encourgement from my fellow May people. Thank! Barb

Barbara, It is perfectly normal to be nervous. I am also, but you have to put things into the Lords hands and be a lot more confident that you are going to do well. Just keep telling yourself that you are going to have a new lease on life. You'll be able to do things that you probably haven't done in years. Cheer up Sweetie, all is good. My surgery date is May 2 and I am having a bunch of different emotions, it's normal. This is a very big dicision we have made. Good luck on your surgery, Carmen : - )

Hey there Barb My surgery date is May 5th as well...and I'm having alot lof the same feelings you are....not looking forward to the pain...but from what I understand after a week or 2 you start to feel better and once the weight starts coming off it will all be worth it....we are gonna do GREAT! I'm on the same countdown as you, and its difficult at this point thinking about giving up all the goodies that put us into this in the 1st place! LOL But, I'm just trying to look ahead, and I have to say that attending the suppport group at the hospital where my surgery is to take place was a true blessing. I met alot of people who are in the same shoes as you and me...some have been where we are and others are just starting the journey. They gave me the kind of encouragement that only someone who has experienced this can do...all were so nice answering the questions I had and offering support. We've come so far to get here...we ARE going to do this and we are going to succeed Will think of you on OUR surgery day and say a little prayer that we both do well and will be much happier in the long run...keep me posted and let me know how things go for you....we're going to not only be fine...but GREAT! Hang in there hun

Hi Barb! Trust me you are not alone. I am feeling the same way. I start my liquid diet on May 9th. I am asking myself the same questions. Can I do this? I keep thinking that anything you saet your mind to can be done. You can do it if you want it bad enough. Keep telling yourself that. Dina

Barb, My surgery is scheduled May 4th. I have been on optifast since the first week of April. I have 1 small meal a day and I've been drinking TONS of water (like 84-130 ounces/day). It is difficult at times and I have slipped on my liquid diet too....but we are human. What I have been told is that after the surgery, the hunger is gone, and the liquid diet isn't difficult..what is more important is getting in your protein!!! Keep your chin up and look ahead...try not to stress about the liquid diet, because if you are like me I eat when I'm stressed LOL Everytime you're tempted..think about the new you! I'll keep you in my prayers..and Keep your chin up!

I was going to do the same, and I am afraid that I might over eat and have problems. But then I figure out that even if you want to over eat your body is going to let you know. You are going to feel full anyways, my date is for May 6 but I met some one here that got it done on April 15 and she is doing great, she even called me the they after surgery so I could know first hand how she was feeling and she has been bless, no complications at all. Instead of trying to do a liquid diet try practicing sipping, I have a big problem with that because I gulp. Good luck and I am going in right after you, we could compare notes after. Kandy

Kandy, I have no choice, I have to do the liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. My surgeon requires this. It shinks the liver to give him more space to work w/out running to risk of damaging the liver or other organs. The sipping I have down for the most part. Thanks for the encourgement! I'll be watching out for you after. See you on the losing side! Barb
