Hey Maysters...What do you eat?

Hi my Mayster Buddies, So how many calories do you all eat each day? Or do you concentrate more on protein versus carbs? Are you at your goal weight? I've been having a heck of a time losing and I work out an hour each day along w/following the Weigh****chers core program. I do have a thyroid problem for which I take medicine for. Just wondering what the majority of you are doing. I still have 40 lbs to lose! Sue McD 306/188/140

Hi, Sue! I don't really have a "program" that I follow, but I try to eat things that are as close to their natural source as possible. I make my proteins lean ones (like chicken breast, fish, lean pork, etc.). I don't always eat protein with my meal - I may have a "meal" of just fruits and/or veggies. Sometimes I will snack on whole grain crackers or lowfat popcorn. I'm maintaining 185 pound loss (140 from surgery day) and have been at goal for 3-4 months. My highest weight was 370, I was 321 the morning of surgery and was 185 the morning of my TT last Thursday (don't know exactly what I am now). I am 5'8" and big boned, so 185 is a good weight for me. As far as what my "focus" of my meal plan is, its really to eat natural and healthy. I don't have a goal of protien that I shoot for everyday, I don't have a calorie goal, I don't have any goal except 64+ oz of water/fluids. Other than that, it's just making what I eat the best possible quality that I can. I allow myself an occasional not so healthy food choice such as pizza (if I make it homemade, though, it is very healthy), or a fast food burger, or something, but I would easily say 90% of the time, I eat like I stated above. Hope that helps! Michelle 370 (highest)/340 (consult)/321 (morning of surgery)/185 (morning of TT) At goal TT 2/1/07 and still saying OWIE!

Thanks for your input Michelle. Congrats on your TT. I don't feel that I'm ready for that just yet. I want to get down to 140. I exercise every day and my body has certainly changed but the scale doesn't budge. I know I'm building muscle yada yada yada, but I would still like to see the scale move! Hope your recovery continues to go well. Sue McD

Hi there, Sue. What do you mean that you don't feel that you're ready for that just yet? Do you mean the way that I eat? That's pretty much the way that I've eaten the last...I'd say year maybe - maybe a little less and it's helped me lose the last bit of weight that I've wanted to lose and has helped me maintain where I am now. I'm not saying that you should adopt my plan or style of eating, but just do what your nutritionist and doctor say is best for you. They know you and your body better than me!! Michelle

NO...I mean I'm not ready for plastics. The way you eat is great. I pretty much eat that way but you do but have the occasional low carb ice cream or sugar free cookie! I think you're doing great! I don't want to think about plastics until I'm at my goal. I also will not have any elective surgery just before or during golf season!!!! I will have my 2 yr consult w/my surgeon in May and I'll talk to him about it then. Take care and hope you continue to heal well! Regards Sue McD

You sound just like me, Sue. I also workout over an hour six days per week, follow WW Core and still cannot get down to 140. Grrrr...... I am grateful for what I have lost but would just like to get down to least below 150 before plastics and ultimately 135 after plastics. I am only 5'2" and small boned, so I honestly think 135 is reasonable. Anyway, at my last visit with my surgeon, I complained about it and he told me that as much as I don't want to admit it, my weight may be as low as it is going to get. I am SOOOO NOT ready to accept that and will continue working out like a fiend and following Core until "something" happens - and who knows what that something" is! How much weight can we liposuction off at a time? I just may resort to that because this is getting real old. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I am in the same exact boat as you and that you're not alone! I have my WW weigh in tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get some good news. We will see.... Hugs, Tracy 303/160/135

Hi Tracy, I'm not happy for you but I'm glad that it's not just me...that really doesn't sound right! What size are you wearing? I'm wearing a size 14...a lot different from the 26/28 I was wearing! Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow. Do you have plastics scheduled? I'm not even going to think about it until next fall...I can't do anything to compromise my golf season!!!! Have a great week end.
