OMGSH - I'm so happy today I could just keel over (oh wait, no - the keel over is from feeling sooooo crappy lately)..... any way..... this weekend I was at a Mary Kay convention (which was AWESOME but very draining) there my National Sales Director's husband came up to me and said that his wife told him of my health issues. He gave me the name and number of a doctor for me to go see. I thanked him politely and that was that. I never really thought much of it until today when dh asked me if I had gotten ahold of that doctor, I hadn't but told him I would. I really wasn't expecting anything to come of it since this is a SMALL town doctors an my BIG city doctors wouldn't even help me. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called and spoke with his medical assistant. She has had wls and is married to the brother of the man who gave me the phone number. She knew all about complications from wls and she said that this pcp has 10 wls patients currently and she's his problem patient so she was glad to have another join the ranks. LOL So I made an appointment for next Thursday (the same day as my hematologist apt) and his office is just the next town north of me, so it's 1/2 the distance then my old pcp. Woooooooo Hoooooooo - I feel like I have some HOPE again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll keep you up to date on what I find out and what they're going to do. Hugs Laurie

Yeah Laurie, I hope this doctor is just the prescription you need. I am shopping for a new WLS friendly PCP, too. Luckily, I haven't had the problems you have had, but when I have had a question, my PCP doesn't care, and is too lazy to find an answer. I wonder how many of us WLS patients have to suffer through indifferent PCPs. I firmly believe that the morbidly obese suffer needlessly at the hands of their PCPs because they are written off as medical risks due to their weight. They eventually give up trying to get adequate medical care, and then suffer from their comorbidities. When I had my gastric bypass, I didn't realize that shoddy medical care would continue from my PCP. Now I am just considered a WLS patient, and am my surgeon's responsibilty, no matter what the medical ailment. Shame on the bad PCPs. I here from people on this board that there are good, well informed PCPs out there, but we have to search them out. Debra M.
