B-12 shots?
I was taking sublingual liquid B12 and although my levels were "within range", they were on the low end and I started having symptoms of neuropathy so I switched to shots instead. I've been doing 1 shot a week for 4 weeks and then I switch to once per month. I can definately tell the differnce in how I feel and the neuropathy has gone away.
If your levels are good, then you don't have necessarily have to take the shots. Mine is 1200 or so which is just above the top end of normal so I'm doing fine on the sublinguals. Some folks don't seem to absorb them as well so they switch to shots.
You want your B12 to be closer to the high end then the low end of normal. The US range of values is based on cardiac issues and not on neurological issues. Neurological issues can happen within the range of "normal" so it is best for it to be towards the top end of normal or even above normal..
Fatty acids? What levels aren't normal for you?

Now Dr. Kathy - WOULD YOU PLEASE GO TEACH THAT TO OUR WL SURGEONS!!!!!
I'm so sick and tired of them telling me that my levels are "within normal"!!!! I still feel like CRAP, I still have symptoms of low levels and they don't care because I'm in the normal range!!
We need a book out that would be required reading for any surgeon who does wls, and this book needs to be written by US patients!!!!!
Hugs,
Laurie
My levels have been good all along but I opted to do the shots just cuz I didn't want to have to remember it once/week as prescribed by my surgeon. I started doing it three times/week then every other day, then I just opted for the shot. I used to work in medicine so I know how to do my own shots. I just get a Rx for it and get syringes from my PCP and jab it into my leg monthly.
