Home from tummy tuck
Hi Maysters,
Got home late last night from the hospital after my tummy tuck on Thursday. I'm typing with the help of lots of vicodin. The doctor took off 8 pounds of skin and fat, and found three small hernias that he repaired. My muscles and underlying fascia were in pretty bad shape, so the surgery was a bit of a challenge for the surgeon. I am happy to be home, and am taking my drugs every 4-6 hours. I've managed to sleep pretty well in my recliner, and relax as much as possible. Of course, I have two drains in, and lots of bandages under my binder. I can't see much of my new stomach, and I'm still swollen with excess IV fluids, so I don't know what it's all going to look like when I heal.

Welcome home!!!
Now rest up, drink those fluids, and expect the healing to take a while!!! I couldn't stand up straight for WEEKS after!! It's good that you can rest in your recliner, don't hurry to get back in bed - it hurts like crazy the first time ya try.
Your stomach will be swollen for a while. Actually, my surgeon told me it takes 9 mths for the insides to heal and he's right!!! I'm five months out and still have days that it swells all up. But I must say I absolutely LOVE having a nice cute belly button!

Hi Debra, congratulations on your surgery. I just had my tummy tuck and breat lift/implant last Monday. You will be thrilled when you get the chance to see your tummy, I promise. Keep on the vicoden and stay ahead of the pain, in other words, take it before you feel like you're in pain again. There's nothing noble about being in pain just to be on less medication -- trust me on this..lol You'll be feeling better by day 4. Heal well and quickly,
Merril
