Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Hi everyone. I wanted to take a minute to ask for your help. In a few weeks, I'll be walking to support the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser. Although I haven't had anyone close to me succumb to breast cancer, my mother, grandmother and oldest brother all died of cancer that could have possibly been prevented if there had been earlier detection. Just like breast cancer, which has a very, very high treatment rate, if caught early enough. The American Cancer Society does so much in the way of research and education. It also reaches out to families who have been touched by cancer and provides support in the way of counseling, helping with the logistics of making treatments and checkups, care for the children of sick individuals, visits for the elderly, and even hot meals for families in crisis. It is near and dear to my heart. Normally, I would never ask people other than my own family, to contribute to something like this, but every little bit counts and so I'm asking you, if possible, to contribute to the fundraiser in some small way. Even if it's not monetarily. They have these walks everywhere, and not only is it for an excellent cause, it's great exercise as well as an opportunity for women of all walks of life (and their families) to join together to fight a senseless killer. If you'd like to learn more about this event, or help me on my quest, check out my page at: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=1535077&pg=personal&fr_id=2147&s_tafId=4699 Thanks for listening to my ramble...

Becky Sue, Thanks for making this commitment. I did the 2006 Breast Cancer 3-Day and I am already planning for 2007. It was one the most amazing experiences I have had. My grandmother died in 1969 of breast cancer and my mom's two sisters are survivors. Take care! J
