Deaf and Limpin'
So, last night, Aaron and I went to this club that we were at the night we met, to hear an 80's band out of Columbus Ohio that was playing the night we met as well. They're called the Reaganomics and are by far, the absolute BEST cover band I've ever heard and an absolute ball to listen to. I'm a huge 80s fan, being that was the music I grew up with, and even though I'm not a 'club' person, it was fun to go to the same place and within the same cir****tances as the night we met.
I'm here to tell you, I had a blast! I'm also about deaf. Not only do I have ringing in my ears but any noise, the tap of my keyboard, for example, starts a chirping noise in my ears.... I am also one big limp. I danced and danced and danced. Like I haven't danced probably in my entire life. Seriously. I'm pretty sure it's the 1st time I've gone out dancing since I lost all this weight and I know I didn't dance like this, if at all, when I was pushing 300 pounds. OMG I had fun! They played from 10:30 until 2:30 with a short break and I was up in front of the stage dancing the entire time! I didn't even get winded even though I was singing every song at the top of my lungs WHILE dancing... 18 months ago, I would have kealed over and hit the floor if I tried to do that.
Granted, I can't hear for **** and my knees are killing me right now, but man, I wouldn't trade last night for all the SF Peanutbutter Ice Cream pops in the world!
WOW, trading in those Blue Bunny's eh? Now THAT'S serious.
Sounds like you had a blast. I really want to do the same one of these days. I have so much stamina now and energy to burn and finally with most of my aches and pains out of the way or very little so... I'm ready. Dunno if Rich is up to it though... achy knee, shin splints and a sore achilles... but tough. I need to get him to take me out.
The folks down in VA Beach from OH... go dancing quite often. Wi**** wasn't several hours away for me. (Pout.) Plus I have a doggie to take care of. They are dancing tonight in fact. (Double Pout.)
I have to pencil it in at some point and I'm with you... I'd love to go see a band playing the older stuff - the stuff I grew up on. 70s 80s especially.
Glad you had a blast. What was Aaron doing while you were singing at the top of your lungs and stage diving?
Where is that new tat picture?
K
Tat picture will be a little later today, whenever we get moving...
Aaron was about to kill me last night.... When the band started, we had a table off to the side of the stage and I got up to dance. A little later, I came back to check on him and he was standing at the table GLARING at me... Apparently, he needed to hit the little biker's room and I had left my purse in his care. His choices were to take my purse with him or wait for me to come back and hope he didn't have an accident.... Poor guy...
After that, I convinced him to come up on the dance floor with me. We stayed near the side of the stage where I danced and danced and danced and he.... uh... well, I GUESS you could call it dancing...
Deaf and Limpin' ain't so bad when you dancin' to a great live band! One of our favorite things to do is go to House of Blues on a Saturday night and shake my groove thing to the Boogie Knights. They do all disco, and they are dressed up in true 70's garb, etc. It's usually crazy since HOB is on the Las Vegas Strip. There are lots of bachelorette parties, groups of guys dressed as Elvis, and anything else you can imagine. I'm not into the club scene either, but it's great when it's a live band. They don't go on until midnight, so it's a very late night -- usually don't get home until about 3AM.
One of our good friends used to sing for them during his off time (he's now the lead singer for Journey on this tour). When they played "Play that Funky Music White Boy" the singer would toss the mic to my DH in the crowd to sing the chorus. Yes -- it definitely fit. My DH is obviously the most perfect specimin of white boy syndrome when he dances. BUT I'm so glad he still enjoys it. I would be one unhappy chick if we couldn't go dancing every once in a while!
Glad you had a good time. Angie
Sounds like a blast! I went and saw a band last night too! The only thing is I miss not be able to DRINK like we used to.... so I find that although we can now dance a lot better than before.... I dont have the 'liquid courage' i used to have...... lol!!! So, I guess I need more therapy.....
It was fun to be out and about, although I am used to be in my pjs at 10, and I still woke up at 6am even though I wasnt in bed till 2am....
fun fun!
