Has anyone had gall bladder problems?

For about the past month I get "attacks" after eating, where I have pain right below my ribcage and I feel like it's going into my chest. I get nauseous and wretch but nothing comes up. I've started to get these pretty regularly now and am thinking it might be gall bladder. At first I thought I was having a heart attack!!! I'm seeing my surgeon next week and will ask then of course. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Sue McD 306/191/150

Hi Sue, Sorry you are having this pain and of course the mystery is certainly stressful. It may be gallbladder. Actually, I've known some post ops that had similar reaction after eating who discovered an ulcer. It may be a thought to try some over the counter zantac ( or generic equiv.) prior to eating and see if it eases the pain. It's good you will be seeing your doc very soon. He may know what's up. Back when I had gall bladder issues I remember fatty foods (especially fried foods and fatty meats) made me hurt awful and also coffee creamer bent me double for some reason. Praying you have relief and swift resolution. Mary

Is the pain somewhere between the bottom of the rib cage and belly button? That's where mine was. Nausea and vomiting are also symptoms. And it will feel worse right after you eat, drinking hurt mine as well. I just had my gallbladder removed last month for stones. It's common to develop stones with the weight loss, and need the gallbladder removed.

Ooohhh....sounds just like gall bladder. I had mine removed in 1993, 7 weeks after I had a C-section. I had my first attack when I was 7 months pg and I, too, thought I was having a heart attack. I threw up and it went away! Try eating VERY low-fat and that may help, it did me. I never ate more than 5 grams/fat per meal. I lost a lot of weight, too! Michelle
