Fibromyalgia??
Does anyone here have this? I've been doing a "Kathy" and trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with me and after doing quite a bit of research, all of my symptoms point to fibromyalgia. I have an appointment with my PCP this morning at 11:30 and am going to discuss it with him and see what my options are. I was just wondering if anyone here has it and what your symptoms are and how you treat them.
Here's mine:
pain - sometimes deep muscular in my neck, upper back and shoulders, lower back, and knees. It can be throbbing, shooting, and stabbing sometimes. Pain and stiffness are usually worse in the a.m.
Fatigue: mild fatigue that often requires me to take a nap even after 8-9 hours of sleep at night. I also get insomnia sometimes and grind my teeth at night.
Irritable Bowel - go from constipation to diarrhea and abdominal gas (this is from the GBS, I'm sure and not fibro - the gas anyway)
Chronic headaches - I get migraines and tension headaches probably 6-8 times/month.
Temporomandibular Joint Disfunction - TMJ - I have this
Other symptoms - PMS, painful periods (like need narcotics painful), chest pain, dizziness, morning stiffness, muscle twitching, dry eyes, sensitivity to loud noises
I got all of these symptoms off of a FMS website and while I have all of these, I never knew that they were all connected. I don't feel like a freak and hypochondriac!!
Anyway, I'll talk to my PCP this a.m. and see what he has to say.

Pulling a "Kathy" eh?
I had TMJ issues long ago. Spent my 30th birthday in braces. Had trouble with jaw pain, neck issues, eye problems all due to the TMJ.
How are your labs? Especially iron and the B vitamins? Are you levels good?
Did you have all these issues pre-op or are they all new?
My doc called and wants me to see gastroenterologist about my liver enzymes. I guarantee the man thinks I'm a hypochondriac. 3 endoscopies and 1 colonscopy and nada... nothing to find. He'll love seeing my name on the list.
Good luck today! Keep us posted. I think there is blood work or something to help determine fibro. Maybe?
hugs,
Kathy
This has started since the surgery, but a trauma (like car accident or surgery) can trigger the syndrome.
The PMS and painful periods I've had since age 10 when I started the joyous journey into womanhood, but they have actually gotten somewhat worse since surgery. Insomnia I had off and on pre-op and it's not really worse since surgery, but not any better either. Everythine else has been within the last 6 months or so.
My labs are all fantastic - had them drawn about 1-1/2 months ago and everything was perfectly within normal limits - iron, Bs, everything (I had the full spectrum of Bs done).
I'll keep ya posted!
If you read on the yahoogroup for folks that haven't had difficulties since their WLS (WLS gone wrong)... I think there are a number of folks there that have had things like fibro perhaps triggered by the WLS.
Glad to hear your labs are doing so well! Excellent!
Sorry to hear of all your problems. Hope your appointment goes well.
Here is an extra HUG,
Kathy
