I don't understand it

I had to go to my PCP the other day for a rash and low and behold I had gained again. I was quite put out but then I got to thinking how in the world could that have happened when I tried on a pair of 20's and they fit but all my other clothes are still a 22. So because I could put on the 20's doesn't that mean I'm losing inches still? I tried on this cute Just My Size outfit and it's an 18/20 and it fits perfectly and gosh darn it I look good in it. But anyway how can I be gaining but losing inches? I'm perplexed and kind of frustrated because I like that scale going down down down. According to Dr. B's scale I'm above 300 again and that is a very bad thing. I was proud when I was below it and don't like being above it. So I guess its back to basics for me to see if I can start the scale to match my clothes. Jan

Hey, Jan! Nice to see you. Our bodies do weird things. We can lose inches without pounds and pounds without inches. I know that early this year I was in a particular pair of jeans. I was so thrilled. I didn't lose really any weight over the next couple of months and I put the pants on and they didn't fit. I couldn't figure it out. I had worn them a couple of times and now they didn't fit? How did my abdomen grow? What I figured was that my body was shifting around. I think I overall was losing a bit more perhaps around my middle and extra skin shifted south to my belly. I think whenever we see a gain we need to drop back and see what we are doing. Are we eating foods that our bodies don't like (mine in particular doesn't like the white carbs and overreacts on the scale)? Are we getting in enough water? Are we eating foods that are too salty? Are we getting in adequate protein? Are we just plain eating too much? Are we taking too many BLTs (bites, licks and tastes)? Are we grazing? Are we exercising? Are we taking our vitamins? Good luck, Kathy

Kathy's right, Jan. Time to reassess and that's not a bad thing, especially for people like you and me who are not yet at goal. Another thing to keep in mind is that sometimes hormonal issues may cause weight fluctuations. It was my time of the month last week, and my weight bounced between 164.5 to 174 in a matter of days. Anyway. if it's any consolation, it's back to basics for me too. *hugs*
