POWER CRUNCH BARS - CHEAP LOCALLY

HEY ALL, AT VITAMIN SHOPPE TODAY THEY HAD THE POWER CRUNCH BARS FOR $ 16.71 PER BOX. I think there's 12 per box, if you buy 1 individually they run about $ 2.50 ea. They cost about $ 15.00 online per box but then there's shipping and handling etc. I got the peanut butter fudge and they had a few other flavors to choose from. The sales run usually to the end of the month so if you are interested maybe call your local one to have them hold some for you and get the details of the length of sale. ( They used to NEVER be able to keep them on the shelves but are well stocked, near me, now) Mary

Cool, Mary. Not only the good price, etc., but they arrive to you not having melted on the front porch after being delivered in the heat. I'll check out the per box price at 24 Hour Fitness (they are $2.50 per bar individually), the only place I've been able to buy locally. Eileen (now plowing through 4 !! boxes of semi-melted Power Crunch bars)

oops ! Could it help to stick them in the freezer? With your HOT weather out there no wonder they began to melt. You must be disappointed. Hope they're salvagable...cuz they are sooo yummy. Mary

I think that is the same price as Wegmans sells them individually but still an excellent price. Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering how they would mail if I ordered them and ewwww... don't want them melted. BTW, I heard that some folks freeze them and eat 'em. I need to try that. I also have to blame you (ahem) for my Atkins Chocolate Chip Granola bar addiction. I noticed that the ones that Safeways was clearing out seem to be reboxed into breakfast bars that are smaller versions. Kathy

PC Bars are *grrrreat* frozen. Ohhh - eeee. They're also fine after being melted, just a bit funny looking. I keep them in refrige in summer regularly. Eileen

Those Atkins choco chip granola bars are really delicious. I've been eating one most days for breakfast. When I am really busy I only eat half and later the other half for a snack. Sorry I hooked ya I saw the { NEW } choco chip bars and they do look smaller and think they're called c. c. crisp bar instead of granola bars. ( why mess with perfection???) I went to Giant the other nt. w/ dtr. and they sell them for $8.99 a box !!! Wonder how they have the nerve ! ...guess they do cuz they CAN. Anyway I'm gonna put a few PC bars in the freezer. That sounds yummmmm. Mary

Yes, my local Wegman's (in Hunt Valley, Maryland) sells them for $1.39 each.

Hey Kathy, just a quick question about those Atkins Bars, do they have soy protein? Would that be okay for me since I take Synthroid for hypothyroidism? I love the South Beach diet bars but stopped eating them out of fear of messing with my thyroid. Candy

Hey, Candy! The Atkins are soy protein so I'd avoid 'em if I were you. The Power Crunch Bars are whey protein so they would probably be your best bet on protein bars. I like 'em. Hate the vanilla (too waxy tasting for me) but I like the other flavors. Kathy

Anyone have the skinny on where I might be able to get some Strive bars locally? I get them at Susan Maria's site for $20 or $22 per box of 12 plus shipping.
