Update on Chest Pains
From Tuesday until yesterday afternoon, virtually no chest pains.
Honestly I had no idea what was different - what had I changed. The week before I eliminated my multivitamins which I had never realized had aspartame in them. I used to get migranes from that and apparently there isn't enough in the vitamins to trigger that but a sensitivity is a sensitivity so out they went.
When I was in NY over a long July 4th weekend... I had less chest pains but I noticed that I did get them out at the cemetary visiting Mom and they came along with what was an allergic response. Then I came home and for several days... the pain was back. Then last Tuesday came and ... I felt pretty good. A slight twinge here or there but I felt pretty darned good until yesterday afternoon.
So what happened yesterday afternoon? I took my multivitamin (chewable) and my B100. I take those every day and was a bit late on the B100 taking the first one late in the afternoon. That's when the pain started. Well, I had been taking them all week long but I thought to myself... "Kathy, you've been taking it split in half with hot decaf tea every day since early this week at work." So I'm not sure if the pill is getting stuck somewhere if I don't take it with something hot and that irritates something to trigger the chest pains. Every sip afterwards or bit afterwards hurt. And it still hurts a bit today. I did try some hot tea after the pain started and that didn't help. What's stirred up is stirred up.
Perhaps I'm onto something? I just don't know. Chest pains seem to accompany a bit of a runny nose and heavy chest like an allergic response.

Kathy - just a thought... I wonder if you're not onto something with the pill getting stuck theory... I read a lot about post-ops getting a runny nose when they get full, something about the vasal-vagular nerve or something like that... the heavy chest/twinges is what I feel when I eat something sharp that gets stuck or when I swallow something that sits on my stoma funny (that's what I'm guessing, anyway).
Not sure how you would go about tracking a possibiity like that down, but, just a thought...
Becky,
Yea, it is the vasovagal nerve, I believe. When food gets stuck for me it is usually just pain right dead center. My chest pains are more in my left shoulder or something.
My Dad and sister have vasovagal syncope - aka they pass out in stressful situation. Dad gets light-headed at the doctors and sis can pass out when its warm and crowded. Sissies, they are! LOL!
Thanks!
Kathy
