Gas pains and other woes
Hi all. It's been very busy here this summer. I'm really enjoying my time off. Only 4 weeks left for me before teachers start. Anyway,I've been having what I thought and my surgeon thinks is some major gas pains. It's generally under my left rib cage and it doens't really hurt but I can just feel pressure. I explained it to him and he explained something about excess gas in my colon and how it can cause discomfort. It doesn't prevent me from overeating and sometimes I'll take a gasx and that helps. Sometimes it actually makes my ribs sore. He did ask me does this happen immediately after I eat and I said no because it doesn't. It's usually waaaaaaaaaay later. He said if I get discomfort after I eat, it's pouch related generally. I'm figuring out what foods trigger it though...strawberries for one...and I love them! Better than candy and junk right? So please fill me in on your gas symptoms. Does anyone ever feel this way at all? It's not a daily thing but maybe one a week or even less.\
On to other things. A few days ago I got on the scale and was amazed to see 127. I got off and on and repeated this several times. Ate breakfast and it still didn't change. I usually hover around 130-132 so this was huge!!! Especially since I changed my goal from the original 125 to 130 because I'm happy where I am. Well this 127 got me to thinking, "hmm, what would 125 feel like?" I didn't do anything different the rest of the day; I had my usual foods. Fastforward to the next day, I get on the scale ready for the 120's and the scale says 131!!!!!! What's up with that? 4 pounds in a day? I evaluated my day and it was a normal eating day. Ah, well. Bodies are odd things aren't they? The cool thing is I guess my body is still capable of shedding a little more, woo hoo!
Okay, I'm going to post a wow moment because I think we all need one but let me do a new post. See ya around beautiful people!

221/130/131...but was 127 for ONE day
Oh, Ana I get the gas pains and YES - they are PAINFUL!!! Sometimes to the point that I can barely move on the couch. I have to take 1-2 Maalox gas or Gas-x and just wait for them to work. It is incredible. One of my biggest culprits is milk. Not cheese, yogurt or anything, but MILK. I had some sf/ff pudding last night and it was incredibly painful afterwards. Mine are a HUGE pressure at various points in my abdomen depending on where the gas is. Sometimes it is in the upper abdomen under the ribs, almost feels like I'm having liver pain or something. But other times it's down near my belly button or above that. It just depends on the day!

Hi Ana,
I get gas almost everyday. I dont paticularly notice it until the evening time. The chewable Gas X's are my best friend. They work everytime. My husband calls me "The Pooter". Like Shrek says "Better out than in, I always say". I havent really guessed what causes mine. When aunt flo is coming though Look Out! Silent but Deadly!
Candy
I get gas mostly from sugar alcohols. Owie. Not sure that I've paid enough attention to know what else triggers it. Nothing blatently obvious.
Gas-x is usually when we keep on hand.
I've had to apologize to Rich so many times. Gosh they are pungent. I'm glad we don't have wallpaper...it'd have peeled by now.
Hubby went through this surgery too dammit and he doesn't seem to have this problem. Of course, the man goes number two a good 2-3 times a day so nothing ever gets a chance to get built up in there. TMI! TMI! And there are candles in the bathroom designated for his personal use. At least my issues are fleeting moments.

Yes to the gas and like Candy mostly at night. If I have it during the day , must not notice. * about the scale issue. That same thing happened to me last Sun. am the scale dropped 2-3 lbs and like you I got on and off several times in case I was seeing things. Yep it said the same so I had dropped a few and was so joyful. But from Monday thru this am those 2-3 lbs have come back on and I have been pretty faithful to keep on track. I'm guessing my body is trying out that lower weight and any day now will settle into those numbers for more than a fleeting moment. From elation to disappointment...whew what a ride ! At least we know we are not alone here Mary
