Shoe Frustrations Abound

Well, my feet - they just *stink* and I don't mean odor-wise... I mean shoe size-wise. With the last weight gain...I got to a point where the size 12 shoes that I wore from age 12 to age 40 something (no matter what I weighed from 167 to 270s) wouldn't quite fit though a few rare ones did. I resorted to buying a couple of size 13s since there really aren't 12.5s. I was hoping to just get back to my size 12 shoes and I'd be happy. But no, I lose weight and even though I weighed in this range (a few pounds more) in my 20s... my feet are now smaller than they ever have been. Only I cannot figure out what size I am. Problem is that most shoe stores don't have size 11 narrow width or have size 11.5 narrow width. I can tell you that most of the 11 mediums I've tried on are either a touch too short but not always but are always too wide. In slides, my feet are pushing forward and my toes are hanging off the front with a gap in the rear (aka too wide). This is frustrating beyond belief. I went to the Easy Spirit outlet in NY. Gosh, I could have bought some nice shoes for cheap but nothing fit me. Drove me crazy. They had 11 mediums but they weren't working for me. They had 10 narrows but that it too short. They didn't have 12 narrows to try and don't have any 11.5s in the store (barely anyone makes that size at all). Shoe frustrations abound... Kathy

Wow, and I was moaning and groaning about finding 10.5 narrows, which is my "new" shoe size. 11.5 narrows must be even more difficult. Of course you've tried Nordstrom ... wearing thick socks ... putting liners in your heels ... Eileen

Thick socks and liners... LOL! Wool hiking socks stuffed inside black high heel pumps - now there is a fashion statement! Kathy

Kathy, Interestingly enough, I'm sitting here looking at a shoe catalog while reading OH posts and thought I would reply. The catalog is called Maryland Square - the website being marylandsquare.com. According to the catalog, they carry all sizes and widths, including half sizes. The shoes are kind of expensive, but it may be worth it to have some that FIT! Have a great Friday! Diane

That must suck royally. Try the catalog; they usually have the hard to find sizes. Good luck!

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and order some either online or a catalog and see how they fit and work from there... Thanks!

Kathy, I'm struggling with shoe sizes too. Plus, I had to buy a bunch of shoes a few months ago, now none of them fit me properly. I'm the 10.5 narrow now. Maryland Square does have our sizes, but, you may have to experiment a bit till you find your real size. (Which is a pain when it comes to mail order, I know.) Lori
