Recently added biking to my repertoire

In trying to remove these vacation pounds (I'm halfway there) I've added biking to my exercise repertoire. Only thing is, now I find that I LOVE it!! I live in a rather funky old part of Salt Lake City that is easily bikeable. I'm riding to the gym, riding to the office (when I go in), riding to the knitting store, riding to the library, and riding to "coffee" (which should really be called "iced tea"). Once I figure out how to carry home a week's worth of groceries I'll be doing that, too A year ago I would not have been able to do this. So, I think this is a form of Wow moment. Eileen

Good for you, Eileen!! I want to buy myself a bike as soon as my physical therapist allows me to. I used to do the stationary bike at the gym all the time and do about 15 miles or so and LOVED it!!! Way to go on the WOW moment!! It's nice to know that we can still have them! Michelle

I'm just wishing and hoping that somebody has a yard sale and has a double basket for sale and then you can get those groceries and ride your bike to and fro. I think it is wonderful that it gives you so much joy. Feels like a kid again riding a bike , doesn't it? I haven't ridden in a few wks but enjoyed the freedom so much and it took me back. Maybe this week if the rain lets up I'll take a spin myself...see, you've gone and inspired me This is a WOW moment, take a bow Mary

That's awesome, Eileen. I want to learn how to ride a bike. Tha last one I had when I was six and it had training wheels, so I never learned how to ride a real bike. Kinda embarassing to walk into a bike shop and ask if they give adult lessons...

Tracy, I'll bet if you got on a bike you could ride right away. As adults we have pretty well honed senses of balance. You might surprise yourself. Maybe you could find a fat tire version (nice and stable) at a yard sale. If I were there I'd run after you, holding onto the back of the seat while you learned!! Eileen

Eileen, This is definitely a wow moment. You are now incorporating exercise into your daily activities and loving it! Wow! I plan to buy myself a bike if I ever get under 200 lbs. It is a goal. I'm still 237, so it will be awhile. I just don't want to think of my butt over 200 lbs on a bike! Lori
