Hi All ~ I just found this column about the 10,000 steps a day concept that Lori talks about. It's interesting, and makes me want to see how many steps I'm actually getting in. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13716240/site/newsweek/ Angie

Angie, Thanks for posting that article. I really find wearing a pedometer very motivating. For the month of May, I averaged 8500 steps a day (that included days I only had 2000 steps and ones that I had 14000 steps). For June, however, I averaged 6000 steps a day. I'm hoping to do much better in July. It really does take some effort. I walk 30 minutes on the treadmill in the morning and leave the gym with about 4000 steps, then I get about 1500 to 2000 from working, so I have to take a 2 mile walk at night to make it. I haven't been as diligent since it has been so hot... And my weight loss has come to a halt, so what does that tell me???? Get walking! Hugs, Lori

Anyone have any pedometer recommendations?

The pedometer I use is called "Sportline", I got it at Sears. It was about $16. I like it. It measures steps, calories burned, distance. I'm addicted to wearing it! Omron makes a very good one that I've heard a lot about. The key is getting the thing set up right with your stride length. You will need help measuring your stride. Then be sure to always wear it right as it doesn't measure steps right if it tips to the side. So far today, I've got 6142 steps, so I'm well on my way! Hugs, Lori
