House

Sometimes I feel like I need Dr. House (as suggested to me on the OSSG grads board) to help diagnose me. Not that I would mind having the cute Aussie and handsome Omar Epps work me over... And House himself while gruff... mmmm, licious... My surgeon is very helpful but a bit perplexed. Wants me to write things down, look for patterns, what triggers pain - solids or liquids, etc... Make sure I'm chewing well enough. Discussed whether I had anxiety eating. Said I didn't think so. I said I've really never truly had problems eating since surgery so eating doesn't stress me. He said see how it goes in 2-3 weeks. If still bad... he suggested going back to gastroenterologist for a esophagal (sp?) motility test. Oh boy! That's a new one. Hi Kathy, It's pretty frustrating to get no specifics from the doc, I know. sorry it "adds insult to injury" so to speak. His suggestions do make sense in that it will help log what happens { when} ...this or that. Hang in there. I think the motility tracks the passage of what is swallowed from the moment it goes in to the mouth - to when it hits whatever point he is tracking such as when it leaves the pouch etc or beyond. Usually done under xray probably. Little comfort in todays ov. At least know alot of us are checking up on you and care a great deal about you and are praying for ya too. Mary

No Nexium? No Levsin? Anxiety??? On the other hand... Now that you brought it up, I DO have anxiety when I eat... wondering if I'll be running to the little girls room any minute... or curled in pain for the next 5 hours. Your pain doesn't seem to be closely associated just with eating times though is it Kathy? Maybe you could see an internist? Heck, I don't know. I'm like the doctors now, grasping at straws! Ummm, the motility test sounds like you have to be awake, Hopefully they do this like Mary said, with an xray while you are swallowing the yummy barium... and not swallowing some strange device while they are tracking it internally... Have you researched this yet? Sorry I'm no help babe, but I am thinking of you, and remembering you in my prayers. I really think they should try you on Levsin. love, Barb
