Even our Pets are Fat!!
Oh, Jen... our dog (ex-hubby and I share custody) was definitely overweight though I wouldn't have said morbidly obese compared to others I've seen. She was having issues with chronic pancreatitis and was she was taken off any people food and put on a low fat special diet that is predominantly peanut hulls. (She can poop 6 times a day eating that stuff and she does!) Anyway, she has dropped down probably 7 lbs and is now in the high 20s now. That's a substantial drop in weight. She is doing fabulous at age 18.5.
It is hard not to feed her a piece of cheese or a bite of cracker or whatever. She had done well and now realizes she ain't gonna get any. Hard for a dog that loved McD's fries and got to lick the plastic container from the Boston Market Mac and Cheese frozen dinner.

I would always read and see about how our pets and our children are fat when we are but that was never my case for pets and my children. Our 8 year old Rottweiler is the pickiest thing in the world. He'd rather starve than eat on most days! He weights 70 pounds which is teeny for his breed. I always wished I could refuse food like him.
As far as both of my kiddos, my daughter has weighed 38 pounds for almost 3 years..she broke that and is now almost 6 and 41 pounds!! She's a teeny, skinny thing...much like I USED to be. My son is just a healthy boy at 50th percentile.
As a Kinder. teacher I do see lots of morbid obese parents with very heavy children and I already worry about them. I know sometimes there are health issues but I actually see what these kids bring for lunch and for field trips and it's just junk: sodas, candybars, chips and pb and j. They go straight for the sweet stuff too!
Now I'm just rambling Jen! But you brought a great point. We need to help our pets and our children make good choices and maybe not spoil them so much so they can live healthier and longer. Whew!!!
