Due to my work schedule, I did an abbreviated workout this morning and will have to tomorrow as well. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill, then 10 minutes of abs and 10 minutes stretching. What did you do to move your body today? Lori

Tonight I plan on walking/jogging at least 4 miles maybe 6. Last night, another WLS buddy and I walked up Table Rock Mountain and back (about 8.5-9 miles). About 2 months ago we started training for a 62 mile walk/run relay race. I wasn't able to participate since I had to be out of town but my walking buddy did and she averaged 16.12 min per mile going up and 14.3 min coming down (she did 2 legs of the race for a total of approx. 12 miles). She did great! Anyway, that race gave us the incentive to get out there and exercise. We want to be able to participate in a marathon someday. I found that if you are having trouble getting the motivation to exercise (which I did 2 months ago), then sign up for a walkathon. Training for these have really helped me stay motivated. Now, we walk anywhere from 3 miles to 12 miles a day and we plan on increasing that 12 miles to 14 on Saturday. I've also found that this has helped break my plateau and I'm starting to lose more inches around my waist. YAY! Linda

Good for you Linda! I totally agree with you that having goals (like preparing for a marathon) helps with the motivation. My knees won't let me get in over 4 miles without pain at this point. Hopefully, if I can just keep losing, they will let me! Keep it up. I've really lost the inches from all my walking! Lori

Sounds to me like you are doing just fine! I was going to the gym 4 or 5 nights a week then it became less and less and then I didn't really do much of anything for a couple of months. Then, at a support group meeting, another member asked me to be in the relay race and I said yes before I had time to talk myself out of it. Of course, as it turned out, I couldn't but it did get me started with the exercise again. Linda

I worked in tha garden again Thursday from 8 am to 1:30 pm and then from 4-9pm. Hubby is so impressed that I am so into the garden work he has agreed to help pour a concrete form/ paving stone path ! He has been digging like crazy to help me. I am so grateful and reflect back to pre-wls days when most of the garden and yard work was left on his shoulders because I was in so much joint and fibro pain. I can see the happiness in his eyes as he sees me being able to really partner with him in these chores now. Who'da thunk pulling the load together could be so pleasant Mary

Mary, When you get the garden the way you like it, take a digital picture for us. I'd love to see it! Lori
