A Thought to Ponder

Last night I got a note from someone that said " I have decided to no longer use the lerm 'lose' weight. Because to me it seems to imply that if something is lost - you may eventually want to go { find it }. Ye gads, So rather I have begun to say "I am ' releasing ' the weight/pounds."...
Thereby acknowledging a choice to let it go freely and gladly".
It gave me pause to stop and ponder. Do you think she is on to something????
Have a blessed Monday ' releasing ' your pounds ;) Mary
Mary,
Interesting concept.
In a somewhat similar vain (or is it vein... lol!), I have difficult choking down or typing the words "XXX pounds gone forever". I think it is a fabulous, fabulous concept but forever is a really, really long time and based on past history with weight I don't think there are any 100% guarantees. I want to believe in my heart of hearts that I'll keep the weight off and believe me I have every full intention of doing what it takes to keep it that way but I prefer to say...
111 pounds gone but not forgotten!

Kathy, I could'nt agree with you more. I have never been able to read that { " xxx lbs. gone forever" } without cringing. I have a daughter who had wls several yrs. ago and I have watched her battle and work very very hard to not regain and to just maintain. I also know that it's true that "pride goes before a fall" and if we get into a mindset that believes ( mis-believes ) that the lbs. are gone forever...we are courting a rude awakening for sure. My surgeon who spoke at the DC OH Forum in 04 said " You can BEAT this wls ! " Meaning we can choose to eat in such a way that we can sabatage the results
which jarred me then and has reminded me often that it IS possible to blow it.
I think you have the 'secret' ... " doing what it takes " ...to keep it off.
It takes intention, dedication and support and lots of love !
Have a great day, Mary
