OT: Got a job/Moved in...long
We are officially moved into our new hometown of New Braunfels. No more traveling back and forth to visit hubby who's been here since Feb. What a crazy week! Wednesday was the last day of school; all my little Kindergarteners got to 'graduate' including my daughter. I shed tears with my class because I always do on that last day but I also told them I was moving
The job hunt was still on. You figured getting another teaching job would be easy but it's so political...especially in a small town. I had an interview on Tuesday (we drove the 3 hours Monday night for the Tue. morning interview which I thought was wonderful....and headed back to Galveston right after the interview...whew!) On Wed. (right after graduation my principal, asst' principal and team leader said they spoke with the principal I interviewed with....yada, yada, yada, she's recommending me for the Kinder. position. She said I'm not "officially hired" until the board gives me the stamp of approval which shouldn't be a problem. Woo hoo!
On Friday I had my official 1 year post-op with my surgeon. He could not believe the before/afters. I'm down from 221 to 131...90 whole pounds. He said I was a normal weight, was pleased with my BMI and said I was Valedictorian of his class of post-ops, . He couldn't believe how well my skin looked and told me to keep up the running/weights. Since I moved he said he would transfer my file to a great surgeon in San Antonio; however, I said I would make a trek to see him every June. Dietician said keep up what I'm doing too. I'm waiting to hear back from the nurse from the lab work they did.
Now it's Sunday. I'm trying to unpack and make this 2 bedroom apartment that my husband thinks is still his bachelor pad. We will be visiting with a builder this morning to get started on our house which won't be ready until February. So, I will have to survive in this little place until then.
Things are looking great for us. I'm looking forward to the summer off, going to the river and just taking it as easy as I can. Oh, surgeon gave me my before pictures and I'll have to add them on my profile when time permits. I need to update it anyway.
I'll be back tonight to read up on everyone. Thanks for reading up on my giant post!
Ana
Ana,
You have been a busy busy lady! Congratulations on your move, your new job sounds very promising and on your success a year after WLS. Sounds like you've had a successful, yet emotional week or weeks. I know it's difficult traveling back and forth when part of the family is living elsewhere in anticipation of a move. I'm glad you're through some of the toughest parts hopefully.
Enjoy your new home and keep us posted on your new job. Sounds like it's definitely yours!
Big big hugs,
Wanda
