It's amazing how fast this year has gone.... 1. Surgery date/type of surgery: 05/23/05 Lap-RNY Gastric Bypass 2. Highest weight/date: 320lbs 04/13/05 3. Starting weight/BMI: 313lbs/51.9 4. Starting clothing size: 26-28 5. Current weight/BMI:185 / 30.7 6. Current clothing size: 12/14 7. Pounds/inches lost: 128 lbs lost - 62.25 inches 8. Goal weight/BMI: 135lbs /22.4 (tough without ps) 9. Pounds to goal weight: 50lbs (I'm giving myself one more year.) 10. Medical issues that have resolved because of the surgery: I can actually walk without my right ankle cracking. 11. First wow moment after surgery: Having a guy compliment my backside in Portuguese and not realize I understood what he was saying. When I thanked him, his chin dropped to his chest and his face got bright red! 12. Best overall wow moment after surgery: Being able to buy clothes off the rack at great prices. 13. Most recent wow moment after surgery: Seeing friends that I only see once a year and having their eyes pop! 14. Things that you can do now that you couldn't a year ago: Back to the shopping... Shopping for fun versus need. 15. Things that you never thought you'd be doing that you are doing now: Walking without pain! 16. Things that you want to do in the future that you are now able to do: Sounds weird, but... I want my husband to be able to pick me up and carry me to bed! (TMI) but always a fantasy of mine.... 17. What has surprised you the most since your surgery? I have worked harder at this than anything else, ever! I'm proud of my accomplishments and am very confident that I will be able to make this work for a lifetime. 18. Do you have any regrets since your surgery? That I didn't do this 10 years ago! 19. Any things that you wish you would have done differently during your post-op journey? Exercise, Exercise, Exercise. 20. Besides the change in size, what other changes have you seen in yourself? Are the changes for the good or bad? There is some PS body sculpting in my future, but I'm not even thinking about that until 5 years out. 21. What has been the easiest thing since surgery? Shopping. 22. What has been the hardest thing since surgery? Maintaining water and protein input. 23. What remains a struggle for you? Vitamins, water and protein. 24. Do you drink with meals? 1/2 hour before. 25. Do you drink carbonated beverages? None at all 26. Do you drink alcohol? I do. And it's DiSarono (straight sugar) 27. Do you intake protein supplements? Bars, shakes and lots of soy products. 28. How has the surgery affected your relationship with spouse or significant other? My husband went out of his way to let me know that he loved me no matter what size I am. He is very happy with the new svelte me. 29. How has the surgery affected your relationship with your family, friends, co-workers? Most of my girls at work are now on diets... The ones that were on the plus side have all new wardrobes thanks to the clothes fairy! 30. If you could pass along advice "been there, done that" to pre-ops, what advice would it be? Don't beat yourself up for small transgressions! WLS is a journey, not a race. 31. What is your favorite forum on OH? The Maysters! It's the only site I've ever used! 32. Who has inspired you in your journey the most? I really didn't have anyone to emulate. The Maysters have been my rock. I am happy to say that I've inspired at least ½ dozen people to get on the get healthy eating wagon. Thank you guys for your continued support. Kate Z

One of my favorite posts on this board ever was your post about the Portugese men commenting on your posterior and you replying back to them. Classic WOW. Congratulations to you on a marvelous year! You've done fabulously and have so much to be proud of! Move the Portugese rump... Hugs, Kathy

I'm picturing Rhett and Scarlett as he picks her up and throws her over her shoulder and carries her up the staircase. In your case, your hubby would carry you so that your rear would be hanging over his shoulder and two Portugese men would be chasing after you up the stairs trying to grab yer arse. Does that work for ya?

Congratulations Kate! You have done so well! I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciated the clothes you sent my way. Kind of broke my heart to have to give them away again! I do hope we can work out a rendevous in Boston. I go there once a year, so if not this year, maybe next! Lori
