Well, I have finally had enough of the "pain in my pouch". My surgeon has scheduled me for an EGD with dialation on Thursday. He also thinks I have an ulcer. And I feel like poop today My pouch feels very heavy and I feel sick to my stomach. I'm sure some of it is nerves. Why am I so scared to do this? 1. I do not want a tube down my throat and into my stomach! 2. I'm afraid it is going to hurt and I'm going to be gagging the whole time making it difficult for the doc. 3. I'm afraid once I'm fixed I am going to be able to eat and will gain back my 140 plus 10 like I always have in the past when I've dieted. uhg I know it will be fine. In my mind. I know I will be twilighted and not remember the whole thing (I pray!). But inside this is just the way I feel. And I'm sad. Please remember me in your prayers. Thank you all so much, Barb

You are in my prayers, dear Barb. I've had an endoscopy with dilation. Don't remember a thing. Didn't feel a thing. They give you anesthesia - it is light but man are you are out. A nice sweet quick nap. I think you'll find that the difference in eating will be subtle rather than dramatic and it won't allow you to eat much more than you are eating now but I definitely and completely understand where your fears are coming from! Hugs, Kathy

Actually, funny you say that... yes, we've thought of moving to Georgia. Someday, we do want to move. We want to move further south. We have one stumbling block to moving... LOL, Rich's parents. We cannot leave them and we wouldn't want to move 'em either. LOL! They aren't in the best of health and they rely on him for food shopping, trips to the doctor, etc. He is a great son. He does mumble under his breath at them... but he is a fine son. All will be fine! Kathy

barb - kathy is right. I don't remember my scope at all. I told them I was claustraphobic and they said don't worry this is nothing. And it was nothing!!! All I remember is an IV in my arm, then night night!!! Laurie fyi: I'm looking to move south to. Thinking about South Carolina area. Gotta get out of this COLD Michigan weather.

Well if ya think a bit further south... we could have a great community couldn't we?!?! Ok Miss Laurie, you've got me concerned, I am REALLY claustrophobic... ummm.... they put you in a tube or something for this???

No tube!!!!! No claustropic worries. Deep cleansing breath. Basically they have you put on a gown and lay on a stretcher and start an IV. Then they roll you into the endscopy suite. Lots of equipment around including a TV monitor, computer and such. You are put on heart monitors, blood pressure cuff and such. They talk to you tell you they'll put something in th IV and you'll be out. When they are ready they have you roll on your side and bite down on what looks like a green pacificer. It is a guide for the scope so you don't bite down on it. As you get that situated and bite down they give you the injection in your IV and lights out. Next thing you know they are saying hello and wheeling you into the recovery area and giving you something to drink. The anesthesia is very light so you won't feel hung over for long. LOL! Kathy

BTW, the procedure takes minutes to perform. And you'll get to take lovely pictures of your pouch and stoma with you along with the doctor's report. Technology is grand. Kathy
