Obstacles

Definitely this weekend, I realized that I still have to learn some of the same lessons over and over again. Saturday we were at the Air Show which we all know means fair food. I had no difficulty avoiding sodas, Dove bars, M&M cookie ice cream sandwiches and funnel cakes with powdered sugar slathered on top like fresh fallen snow. But it was the "other stuff". When we got there... not much food was ready except for these small pizzas. We hadn't had breakfast... just a very early morning protein shake so we split a small pizza. I really haven't delved into much pizza yet (I have had calzone a time or two or three though). That sat fine. After wandering around a bit we were hungry and got a grilled cheeseburger. It ended up being fairly pathetic on the bun but I scrapped the bun off my part (not half) and ate just the burger. Later it was probably one of my favs... a fair pretzel. Carbs and salt - does life get much better. Well, yea, it does. Between that and another burger - this one more substantial (again I ditched the bun for my bites)... Igor (my pouch) was not a happy camper. I didn't feel ill but my stomach literally hurt. Not a good feeling. Oh, and did I forget the pack of cheese/peanut butter crackers. I ate those too. I did have a protein shake while there. We brought powder and shaker cups and then go****er and ice there so there was some saving grace. It was just far too much. Then driving home much later in the evening we stopped for Chinese. Been ages since we had Chinese food. I had two fried wontons (see, the carb cravings were in full force) and several bites of Kung Pao Chicken. I had one bite of Lucky Couple but the beef was too tough for me. No rice though. We ended up having alot leftover. We also stopped at the food store for stuff for the week and got some Blue Bunny SF ice cream pops. I had one later and felt like death. Too too much. Yesterday, we had an early protein shake and later went out for breakfast so I had half an omelette, a strip or two of bacon and 2/3 of half of a bagel w/ butter. I had some leftover Kung Pao for lunch. A SF ice cream pop. Had a protein shake. Dinner was grilled steak and asparagus (baked - coated in mayo and parm cheese). Had another ice cream pop later and felt like death again. Of course, the scale was up 3 lbs over the weekend. Very typical for me. I have to stop doing crap like that to myself. I think it is more quantity but who knows. Bad, bad, bad Kathy. And it's not that I feel guilty... I made conscious choices - just the fact that I felt physically horrible should stop me, no? We'll see. My "rear end" challenge eliminating the sugar alcohols and the white carbs would eliminate a bunch of what I ate this weekend that gave me so much grief. So hopefully with Rich in tow... I'll get my weekend eating in better shape. Usually it is not this hideous but man oh man. I sort of had the "last day" syndrome... last day before the rear-end challenge.
