Boy, it's dead here today. Lots of bickering on the main board and quiet here. Guess the weather turns nicer and people are out and about more. Rich is at work and I'm home. I did get my hair trimmed. Bout time. Looks okay. Went to someone different. Used a gift card too. LOL! I didn't have her do it up and dry it. Figured I was just going home so why bother. Had breakfast out with Rich. Went shopping at Walmart for a few things - got some new shades, some pantyhose that might fit me, some Propel, shower stuff for Rich and hair spray for me. Right now laundry is in- drying the mattress pad, washing the sheets, blankets are next. Made some deviled eggs. Yummm. Rich made cold cut rollups this morning. Got two steaks marinading - we'll BBQ them later. We'll have some asparagus with that. Just deciding how to fix that. Tonight we'll watch wrestling. Sill gal, I am. I love it. Dramatic, hokey, silly, ridiculous, predictable but fun (hey some very nice hard bodies there ladies). Have a great day, Kathy

Ive noticed the May board is quiet alot of the time. It seems like the futher out everyone gets the less we hear or see of anyone. I miss how it use to be. Taking it kinda easy today, I am 26 today. We went to Chilis last night with my dad and step mother. I ordered the guiltless grill salmon and am having the rest tonight with a salad. I never liked any kind of grilled fish until WLS, so amazing to me. We did the WalMart thing earlier getting some neccesities(sp?). We went to the grocery store as well. Got some items to make some new recipies this week. Getting ready to go pick up Chandler from Nanas. He stayed the night last night so we could have an evening out. (I love Nana!) Got a cute outfit to wear last night(a size 6 that I might add, I was totally shocked when a size 8 was too big). We had a lovely evening but was home by 10. Tomorrow is my laundry day as I like to spend all my time with Terry on the weekends ofcourse now he is cutting the grass. Okay well thats my worth of rattling for now. Better go get Chan Chan ( starting tomorrow we are potty training-oh joy, oh bliss!.... sigh...) Candy

I'm here. This will be a rambling post ... not much on my mind. I'm beat up from a very busy oncall week (I go off call tomorrow at 8 AM -- Yea!!) I've been lazy today, dozing and reading. I've had 3 nights in a row with working quite a bit at night/ Today is my DH's last performance of Barber of Seville (a matinee today), so he'll be underfoot (not necessrily a bad thing) from now until his next opera (in the fall). Earlier, I rode the train down to the Living Traditions Festival downtown. Lori was broadcasting her show from there and it was a great excuse to get away from the tyranny of the on-call pager. (I didn't get paged while I was there!! Amazing.) Lori looked great (as usual) and was putting on a great program. If they stream live you guys ought to tune in. (I'll find out.) Her radio station is a wonderful 25-year old community station, that really represents the vast diversity we have in northern Utah. Lori's show is really excellent folk music. While at the festival I got some Sudanese food, which was incredible. I was absolutely blown away with how gorgeous the Dinka women were who were cooking and serving the food. They were tall, very black, and rather large, to these hyper-thin-trained American eyes. But, they seemed comfortable in their size and radiated incredible strength and grace. Their temporary food permit said "Dink Women", obviously the license info was taken over the phone. That made me laugh. I didn't stay long, but it was a nice time. I'm going to cook steaks on the grill tonight. We're out of propane, so it will be over charcoal. I consider this an incredible treat. I'm knitting my first sweater. I've never been willing to spend the money to knit anything other than socks. Now that I'm at or near my size 'resting point' I made the leap. I got some beautiful, light sage green organic cotton/silk blend. The sweater is a simple style with some pretty lace features. We'll see ... Onwards, Eileen

Ramble on, Eileen. I've had the pleasure of listening albeit once and fairly briefly to Lori on one of her radio broadcasts. She sounded great. The music is definitely stuff up my alley. I'm a folkie of sorts. We have a couple of great folk clubs here in this area and I've been known to go there a time or two or two dozen or more. We yearly have the Smithsonian Folk Live Festival. They feature world and US culture, foods, etc. This year is Alberta, Canada; Native American basketry from North America and Hawaii and Nuestra Música: Latino Chicago (music and cultural expression of Chicago's Latino communities). Schedule of events aren't posted yet. It is the end of June into early July. We'll be in NY for a good part of it but maybe the second weekend. It is usually fun. I thought I saw New Orleans on the schedule but I fear that was an old schedule and obviously was changed. Anyway, they have lots of music, dance, customs, etc and yes FOOD. Not sure what the food from Alberta Canada is. Other years have been far more exotic. In the past, I watched someone get shea butter out of it's natural source and see John Deeres on display. LOL! One year, they featured many from the Smithsonian themselves and my old boyfriend's mother was there with an exhibit. She was an ornothologist who specialized in foresnics with feathers. She found and formed the science itself. You can identify species of bird from a feather fragment - it is unique. She taught the guy at the FBI in Quantico and she is noted by reputation (not name) in Patricia Cornwell's Cruel and Unusual. In fact, she documented Roxie's feather preparation technique in the book... Roxie was tickled with that. She made a living with feather identification - mostly from the Air Force since they were gathering data on "bird strikes" aka birds sucked into plane engines. Interesting (and fiesty) lady. She past away a couple of years ago in her 90s. I've digressed. Anyway, your knitting and sweater sounds divine. I am not so gifted. I did do some counted cross-stitch in my day with a dab of crocheting but no real knitting. Rich just put our steaks on the charcoal grill! Enjoy yours! Kathy

Alexandria, VA has The Birchmere -- just a great music venue. I've flown out there specifically to hear a show at the Birchmere. I don't do much counted cross stitch anymore, it's very tough on my eyes. Oh BTW, we're probably going to be in southcentral PA in the fall. We *always* go to DC while we're there. I'll let you know and we can meet up. Eileen

Yup, the Birchmere! Been there so many times over the years. Have your been to the old one or the new one? Don't remember what year it moved. The old one was like a storefront with bathrooms and a store in the basement. If that's the one you went to... that's the original. The new one is down the same road and it's quite large. The seating area is bigger but they also have a big bandstand when you first walk in and sometimes have shows out there. Who have you come this way to see? Who is worth a trip cross country? Folks I've seen there: Shawn Colvin, Shawn Colvin w/ Mary Chapin Carpenter (those 2 together are a riot), Maura O'Connell, Susan Werner, Tuck & Patti, Saffire - The Uppity Blues Women, Lowen & Navarro, Micahel Tomlinson, Darden Smith, Tish Hinojosha, to name a few that come immediately to mind. David Cassidy is coming this fall. Kathy

It would be the 'new' Birchmere that I've been to. My inlaws are in Fayetteville, PA -- I like my inlaws Eileen

It's nice to like your inlaws! Definitely. Mine are... er... interesting. Lets just say... old, world and German. Nuff said. Sadly their world is very, very small and life hasn't been easy for either one of them and it shows. Ah, the new Birchmere... then you missed out of the scuzzy ambience of the original place. It was divine and perfect for folk music. The new one suits it well too. We have other folks venues... Rams Head Tavern is over in Annapolis which is a drive but I've heard a great place to see a who, of course we have Wolftrap Performing Arts Center (National Park service) and a small venue called Jammin Java that has some cool acts too. Kathy (who loves her music...)

I"ll add to the rambling. We made it in from spending a 4 day weekend with daddy. THe kiddos are tucked in bed and fast asleep. I'm doing laundry and waiting for Desperate Housewives to start. IT was a nice weekend. We've been looking for a house in New Braunfels and everything is starting to look the same. I'm STILL looking for a job which is frustrating! I had two interviews: one principal said she LOVED me but they didn't have any openings (it was more or less an informal interview) and the other principal said the committee hasn't made any decisions yet but it might take until June(he said early May last time)!!! While I was visiting hubby I dropped off my resume and a cute brochure I made and I got a call back from another school!!! Woo hoo. So she'll set up an interview with me in the next few weeks. Last day of school is May 31st. My sweetie will be graduating from Kindergarten!!! I can't wait for the summer. My year postop appt. is not until June 1st so Ill post for sure when that happens. Oh, I had fun out dancing a few weeks ago. My brother won Ms. South Beach and is going on to Miss (Gay) Texas...I know this is all crazy huh!!! Anyway, he's performing this Friday so I'll have a fun night out with friends to support him and on Saturday a bunch of us are having a kind of last get together...more dancing but hey, it's exercise! And I do shake it!!! I'm wiggling in my seat already! I need to grab a shower and catcth my show (I will do my crunches, pushups and weights while I watch....no couch potato here).
