1 year anniversary today!!!!
Yep, I made it. I am 1 year post-op and couldn't be happier. I first want to thank every last one of yall. You have helped with advice, sent encouraging emails, and brightened my days on many occasions. Without this site, I don't know if I would have done this well. So big ((((hugs)))) to everyone. I am down over 125lbs from my highest weight and still losing!!! I thank god for that. Excuse me while I get my praise on........ As I sit here, I am tearing up because I am just so thankful to God for allowing me to live again . I know I don't post much on this site, I still lurk and have kept up with a many profile!!!
1. Surgery date/type of surgery: 05/16/05 Open-RNY Gastric Bypass
2. Highest weight/date: 345lbs 04/01/05
3. Starting weight/BMI: 325lbs/50.9
4. Starting clothing size: 28-30
5. Current weight/BMI:221 / 33.6
6. Current clothing size: 16
7. Pounds/inches lost: 125lbs from highest weight and 105lbs since surgery!!! Over 50 inches lost.
8. Goal weight/BMI: personal goal 195lbs, normal weight 163lbs
9. Pounds to goal weight: 26lbs/about 60lbs
10. Medical issues that have resolved because of the surgery: no more sleep apnea, edema, and blood pressure lowered.
11. First wow moment after surgery: finding my waist again.
12. Best overall wow moment after surgery: there are sooo many; my latest is being questioned on my ID...
13. Most recent wow moment after surgery: Being mistaken for being 5 years younger than I am.
14. Things that you can do now that you couldn't a year ago: I did the march of dimes walk. 6 miles in 75 minutes. That is 12 minutes mile yall.
15. Things that you never thought you'd be doing that you are doing now: I am officially a love to shop!!!
16. Things that you want to do in the future now that you are able: Too much to list!
17. What has surprised you the most since your surgery? My confidence level has increased!!! People tell me all the time that use to know me that I got my swagger back-lol.
18. Do you have any regrets since your surgery? Not a single one!
19. Any things that you wish you would have done differently during your post-op journey? Never tried chocolate again.
20. Besides the change in size, what other changes have you seen in yourself? Are the changes for the good or bad? Changes are all good. I just am a better person I think. I take more pride in myself!!!
21. What has been the easiest thing since surgery? Losing weight.
22. What has been the hardest thing since surgery? Grazing, but I have gotten a lot better in recent months.
23. What remains a struggle for you? Staying away from sweets.
24. Do you drink with meals? Not really, that is one rule I kept.
25. Do you drink carbonated beverages? Not at all
26. Do you drink alcohol? Twice since surgery
27. Do you intake protein supplements? A shake a day
28. How has the surgery affected your relationship with spouse or significant other? Very interesting. My husband has always been protective, but now he is very protective of me. I think he is happy for me and is even considering the surgery for himself.
29. How has the surgery affected your relationship with your family, friends, and coworkers? My co-workers don't know and I like it that way. My fam and friends have been very supportive.
30. If you could pass along advice "been there, done that" to pre-ops, what advice would it be? The liquid phase doesn't last forever; drink water and most of all, Exercise, Exercise, and Exercise!!! I believe this to be the key to consistent weightloss!!!
31. What is your favorite forum on OH? BAF and though I mostly lurk, I still keep an eye on the Mayster site!!!
32. Who has inspired you in your journey the most? All of you guys. I have learned so much from everyone!!!
