Menstrual Cycle

Ok, before you ask, no, I don't think I'm pregnant, but I am concerned.... And yes, I'm going to ask my doctor. My last period was at the end of March. March 24th to be exact. I haven't had once since... I had signs and symptoms around the time it was due in April, but no period... While I haven't taken a PG test, my tubes are tied and I'm confident that by now, I'd be feeling some other symptoms (I've been pregnant 3 times, one miscarriage) so I think I'd know. Why haven't I taken a test you ask? Well, because to be honest, although I *know* I'm not pregnant, I'm avoiding it. I have been really stressed at work lately. Extremely, as in, way too much pressure with a VERY serious outcome for a large number of people. I've been averaging 4-5 hours of sleep a night, sometimes as little as 2. I'm drinking way to much coffee and basically, during the week, living off of protein bars. My weight loss hasn't totally stalled, but it's crawling. I dipped down to 149 for a day and am currently 151. Has anyone else experienced irregularities in their cycles recently? Because I was on Depo for years before surgery, to be honest, I don't know what to expect out of my body. I have been very regular since surgery, up until this point.

Becky, Your issues could be as simple as stress given what is going on in your life. Or it could certainly be WLS/nutrition related. Hard to truly live over a good period of time off protein bars and coffee, ya know? My periods have changed over the past several months into a new pattern. Spotting for 3 days before my period then a regular period for about 2 days or so (not as heavy as in the past) and then it fades away. I see my gyn today and will get hormones checked. Could either be the changes in my body due to the weight loss or perimenopause. My sister went through menopause around my current age. Sort of hate to say this but I wish I were pregnant. I haven't tried given my post-op status and all my medical issues. But unfortunately, I think age has caught up with me. I only met Rich in 2003 and married him in 2004 and then the hosts of surgeries. I think our changes are between slim and none. Kathy

Hey Miss Becky, Another one of those times when our paths are crossing and doesn't seem to be WLS related. My period, for the last 3 months has started a week early. And my doc checked my hormones because I've been experiencing some really bad PMS for like 10 days before. I'm sure, like Kathy said, your stress level is probably adding to any hormone fluctuations. Maybe our bodies are reacting to the year out stage! But, and you probably don't want to hear this, my best friend got pregnant by her new husband, 11 years after his vasectomy! He thought she had messed around with someone and she thought she must've been raped and blocked it out but when hubby had a sperm test, sure enough, there were thousands. If you have no other symptoms, like sore boobs, you are probably not pg but a simple test can rule it out for sure (or confirm it). I can't give nutrition help, I'm not doing so hot right now but it seems like you should throw a salad and a piece of fruit in there with them protein bars. I'm glad you're checking with your doc though, got to take care of you!
