I know it's early and I usually don't start a post but this morning as I sit back and reflect on this day last year, I am glad to share my experience. It's been a walk of trial and error and ups and down. But if I had to do it again, I would in a heart beat. Only one month before being banded did I decide this was for me, since I had a low BMI 37 and HP that was controlled by 20mg of med's a day, my insurance company did not considered me a candidate for WLS. So I spoke to my DH about us paying for it and after him seeing all my struggles over the past several years, he said if this is what you want, I support you 100 percent. I flew into Mexico on May 12th with my mom not knowing what to expect but just new my life would not be the same from that moment on. Had my tool placed in me on that Friday morning and the journey begun. I copied this blog from other post cause I think it gives the most details. Anyway, thanks for allowing me to tell my story and be a part of this board. I don't think I could have made it this far without God, the boards and support of my DH. All of whom I love dearly 1. I wish I new about the LapBand earlier because the other types of surgery were not an option for me. 18. What has surprised you the most since your surgery? How much effort I still had to put in to lose this weight. I can say I have fought for every pound lost. 19. Do you have any regrets since your surgery? None what's so ever. 20. Any things that you wish you would have done differently during your post-op journey? Follow the rules more closely. 21. Besides the change in size, what other changes have you seen in yourself? My confidence is up and I am not trying to hide in black clothes all the time. I love colors! 22. What has been the easiest thing since surgery? Nothing, it's all been a work. 23. What has been the hardest thing since surgery? Dealing with problems without food. Facing things head on and not allowing food to be my comfort. 24. What remains a struggle for you? Eating properly; taking vitamins; and excepting my new body. 25. Do you drink with meals? No 26. Do you drink carbonated beverages? No 27. Do you drink alcohol? No 28. It was already good and now it's the best. He's amazed everyday and he just compliments me all the time. 30. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your family? My mom supports me and my sister hasn't said anything (a little jealousy) 31. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your friends? Very supportive but we just can't go and eat all the time now. 32. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your coworkers? Most of them drink hate-a-rade (as my niece calls it) but that's OK. I did not have any of them in mind when I had my tool inserted. 33. If you could pass along advice "been there, done that" to pre-ops, what advice would it be? Listen to your doctor and follow the rules even when you can eat more, it's for your own benefit. 34. What is your favorite forum on OH? LapBand forum and the Maysters!! 35. Who has inspired you in your journey the most? Is it someone who know who has had the surgery? Is it someone's profile that you track? Is it someone from your local support group? My husband has been my biggest supporter, even when he didn't see any results he never said a negative word he was there for me. My mom whom I love dearly has been a great supporter but she thinks I should stop losing weight now and get my band removed, isn't she funny Well, thanks for taking the time to read this forum, it's been one of the best years of my life.
