Pop?
I have not had even a taste since the day before my surgery a year ago. I havent craved them the first time. I dont know about all the hoopla about stretching your pouch but after being with out them for this long, Im not going back. Besides the carbonation does deplete the calcium in your bones or so Ive heard.

I only indulge in the occasional Perrier water. My surgeon is OK with carbonation as long as it's not anything with citric acid or caffeine.
I was out to lunch with my brother the other day and tasted his Diet Coke. I used to be addicted to it entirely. Well, it didn't taste very good to me, so I'm not interested.

Sue,
My doctor and nutritionist is like yours, very adamant about any carbonated beverages. They keep telling us it is the one thing that really gets patients back on the weight regain path. I'm not sure why, maybe allowing our pouch to take in more food.
I am not caffeine free however. I drink green tea and coffee...my doctor and nutritionist would like to see me off of that. I try to limit myself to 2 of each a day.
Water the rest of the day.

I no longer drink pop either. I've had a few sips and it really tastes awful now. I do drink the Lipton diet green tea with citrus flavor and it is excellent. I'm not a tea drinker but this stuff really tastes good. It's very mild, doesn't have that bitter tea taste. No carbonation, no calories, no carbs. I haven't found the diet in the regular grocery stores but Walmart had it in the 12 pak and a friend said Costco carries it also.
