I was going to wait until my surgeversary to answer, but it's 12:30am, Liv was up, and I'm waiting to make sure she's going to go back to sleep, so I figured, "Might as well." 1. Surgery date/type of surgery: May 17, 2005 - Lap RNY 2. Highest weight/date: 287, per hospital scale, day of surgery 3. Starting weight/BMI: 287, 45 4. Starting clothing size/shoe size: 24/26, 10W 5. Current weight/BMI: 153, 23.8 6. Current clothing size/shoe size: 6-8-10/sm/med, 9-9.5 regular 7. Pounds/inches lost: 135, don't know total inches, I'll have to get back to you on that one. 8. Goal weight/BMI: 150, 23.4 9. Pounds to goal weight: 3 10. Medical issues that have resolved because of the surgery: High BP and Blood Sugar, joint pain, stress incontinenence 11. First wow moment after surgery: Rode a BUNCH of roller coasters with my son 12. Best overall wow moment after surgery: Rode a bunch of roller coasters with my son! 13. Most recent wow moment after surgery: Was told I was hot! 14. Things that you can do now that you couldn't a year ago: Too many to name - walk down stairs without hurting, tie my shoes while standing up, run, ride roller coasters, jump rope... 15. Things that you never thought you'd be doing that you are doing now: all of the above, wearing single digit sizes 16. Things that you want to do in the future now that you are able: ANYTHING and EVERYTHING! 17. What did you wish that you knew before surgery that you know now? That the mental part was harder than I thought - i.e. issues with head hunger, issues with dealing with how people treat me differently or how I THINK they treat me differently and why, how the excess skin affects me... 18. What has surprised you the most since your surgery? How great I felt right after, how little I've had to deal with, complication-wise... 19. Do you have any regrets since your surgery? NOT A SINGLE SOLITARY ONE! 20. Any things that you wish you would have done differently during your post-op journey? Not that I can think of... Exercise more. 21. Besides the change in size, what other changes have you seen in yourself? Are the changes for the good or bad? I think, obviously, my self confidence has improved, greatly... I think I'm more about living life, now... 22. What has been the easiest thing since surgery? Can't really put a finger on it... it's all been pretty easy for me, knock on wood... 23. What has been the hardest thing since surgery? The mental things I discussed above, staying with exercise... 24. What remains a struggle for you? See above... 25. Do you drink with meals? On occasion, maybe 1 or 2 times a month... 26. Do you drink carbonated beverages? On occasion, maybe once a month... and then only 1/2 a glass or can... 27. Do you drink alcohol? On occasion, maybe 1 or 2 times a month... 28. Do you intake protein supplements? If so, how much per day. Yes, I always get at least 30g from protein shakes, plus have been typically having a protein bar for breakfast... 29. How has the surgery effected your relationship with spouse or significant other? It's much much better, but it took some work... 30. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your family? This hasn't really changed, although my son notices that I'm able/willing to do more physcial things with him... 31. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your friends? This hasn't really changed, that I'm aware of... 32. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your coworkers? THis hasn't really changed, that I'm aware of... 33. If you could pass along advice "been there, done that" to pre-ops, what advice would it be? Be prepared for the mental difficulties. Know that even if you think you're in good place, mentally, it will be harder than you think, and be prepared for that... Stay away from scrambled eggs, no matter how well you think you tolerate things... 34. What is your favorite forum on OH? (Hint, hint) MAYSTERS!!! 35. Who has inspired you in your journey the most? One that I've followed since day one is Leilani, but I get inspiration from so many...

1.Surgery date/type of surgery: May 9, 2005/Lap RNY 2.Highest weight/date: 274/May 2004 3.Starting weight/BMI: 263.5/43 4.Starting clothing size/shoe size: 24 bottoms,XXL shirts/10 5.Current weight/BMI: 149/24 6.Current clothing size/shoe size: 6-8 bottoms, s,m shirts/9-9.5 7.Pounds/inches lost: 114.5/dont know inches as I never measured and regret 8.Goal weight/BMI: 150/24.9 9.Pounds to goal weight: 0-one pound under 10.Medical isssues resolved b/c of surgery: no more depression meds, lowered thyroid meds,borderline HBP now normal 11.First wow moment after surgery: seeing my collar bones 12.Best overall wow moment after surgery: weighing less than hubby 13.Most recent wow moment after surgery: someone not even noticing it was me 14.Things you can do now that you couldnt do a year ago: oh god where do I begin! lets see run, walk upstairs w/o feeling give out, see between my legs while standing up, tie my shoes w/o having to sit on the floor, shave bikini line w/o the use of a mirror, paint my toenails, shop anywhere I choose, etc. 15.Things you never thought youd be doing now: wearing single digit clothing, exercising daily, following the Weigh****chers plan (I always thought Id never be able to eat enough to worry about following any plan), still battling with binge eating, drinking coffee every single day, eating sweet potatoes and black beans(something I would have not touched pre WLS) 16.Things you want to do in the future: Just maintain my weight 17.What do wish you knew before surgery that you know now: how I would battle with constipation for months and months, that Id still not be happy with my legs, and that my binge eating would return 18.What has surprised you the most since surgery: how much healthier I eat and how my tastes have changed 19.Any regrets since surgery: no except I wish I would have done it sooner 20.Any things you wish you would have done differently during your post op journey: take my measurements 21.Besides changes in size, what other changes have you seen in yourself: I am a happier healthier person, I see that I want to be more feminine and take more time in the mirror 22.What has been the easiest thing since surgery: getting in all the days protein 23.What has been the hardest: evening snacking 24.What remains a struggle for you: snacking and binge eating 25.Do you drink with meals: no 26.Do you drink carbonated beverages: not since May 8 of 2005 27.Do you drink alcohol: only two times since surgery, did not like the way it makes me feel 28.Do you intake protein sup, how much: yes at least one shake a day, sometimes two (unjury is the only thing I use) 29.How has the surgery affected your relationship with your spouse: made it better and made him a little jealous 30.Relationship with family: not really made a difference 31.Relationship with friends: not really made a difference 32.Relationship with co-workers: not really made a difference 33.If you could pass along advise been there, done that to pre ops what would it be: that the surgery is a tool not a cure and that exercise is the key for speedy weightloss 34.Favorite Forum: right here silly, with the Maysters! 35.Who has inspired you the most throughout your journey: my hubby who has never given up on me and whom I know is so tired of hearing about my weight or food that Ive eaten for the past year but is still there and listening with an open ear, and I have to say Kathy who inspite of her pain and stalled weightloss keeps on trucking like a pro Candy

1.Surgery date/type of surgery: 5/10/05 - Lap RNY 2. Highest weight/date: 324 lbs 11/04 3. Starting weight/BMI: 324 lbs 4. Starting clothing size/shoe size: 30/32 Shoes size 9 5. Current weight/BMI: 211lbs 6. Current clothing size/shoe size: 14/16 Shoe size 8 ½ - 9 7. Pounds/inches lost: 113 lbs gone 8. Goal weight/BMI: 170 lbs 9. Pounds to goal weight: 43 10. Medical issues that have resolved because of the surgery: Asthma - much less frequent 11. First wow moment after surgery: fitting into smaller clothes 12. Best overall wow moment after surgery: Having my daughter wrap her legs around me when I hug her 13. Most recent wow moment after surgery: Running along side my daughter as she rode her bike 14. Things that you can do now that you couldn't a year ago: run up stairs, walk without huffing & puffing, fit into any chair, go anywhere without feeling like people are staring, 15. Things that you never thought you'd be doing that you are doing now: running, feeling normal and not insecure 16. Things that you want to do in the future now that you are able: River Rafting, Rock Climbing, Horse Back Riding 17. What did you wish that you knew before surgery that you know now? That I would be normal, and be able to eat any foods again, that it wouldn't be this "diet forever" 18. What has surprised you the most since your surgery? How good and energized I feel 19. Do you have any regrets since your surgery? NO 20. Any things that you wish you would have done differently during your post-op journey? Exercise more 21. Besides the change in size, what other changes have you seen in yourself? Are the changes for the good or bad? More sagging skin, more wrinkles. More energized, happier, more pleasant to be around most of the time except for the hormone surges. 22. What has been the easiest thing since surgery? Eating normally 23. What has been the hardest thing since surgery? Exercise and getting in my water and remembering to take my vitamins. 24. What remains a struggle for you? Same as above 25. Do you drink with meals? Yes 26. Do you drink carbonated beverages? No 27. Do you drink alcohol? Occasionally 28. Do you intake protein supplements? If so, how much per day. Yes I do at least 1 protein bar per day and some times 1 shake per day. 29. How has the surgery effected your relationship with spouse or significant other? Yes. It has made it better. 30. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your family? It has made it better. They are all very supportive and caring. 31. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your friends? Hasn't really affected it much, except they all now understand what I went through as a heavy person through reading my journal. 32. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your coworkers? Same as above. 33. If you could pass along advice "been there, done that" to pre-ops, what advice would it be? Don't stress about it, just do it! It will be the best thing you ever did. 34. What is your favorite forum on OH? My State Board 35. Who has inspired you in your journey the most? I know my Surgiversary isn't til tomorrow but I haven't figured out how to cut and paste something kinda big on my laptop and I'm out at mom and dad's on their computer. So here goes: 1. Surgery date/type of surgery: May 11, 2005 Open RNY 2. Highest weight/date: 442 May 3, 2005 It's the first time I was on a scale that could weigh me it was at my surgeons office. 3. Starting weight/BMI: 442, don't know BMI 4. Starting clothing size/shoe size: 32/34/11W 5. Current weight/BMI:294, not sure on the BMI 6. Current clothing size/shoe size: 24/10 7. Pounds/inches lost:148/unfortunately I don't measure myself often enough just when I go see my surgeon which will be on June 23 8. Goal weight/BMI: 150/don't really care about the BMI 9. Pounds to goal weight: 146 10. Medical issues that have resolved because of the surgery:Blood sugars 11. First wow moment after surgery:Being able to buy jeans that had a button and a zipper 12. Best overall wow moment after surgery: Being able to wear a seatbelt in the backseat of my Aunt's blazer 13. Most recent wow moment after surgery: Being able to pull on a pair of levi's 14. Things that you can do now that you couldn't a year ago: Go the Gym, shop at walmart, shop at Old Navy and wear cute clothes 15. Things that you never thought you'd be doing that you are doing now: Working out for 45 minutes 16. Things that you want to do in the future now that you are able: Work out for 60 minutes and not get short of breath 17. What did you wish that you knew before surgery that you know now? Nothing I researched a lot 18. What has surprised you the most since your surgery? The compliments I get from people I'm still not used to that 19. Do you have any regrets since your surgery? Nope I'd do it again in a heartbeat 20. Any things that you wish you would have done differently during your post-op journey? Not pushed the envelope on what I can and can't eat. I found out I don't dump on everything so still eat the bad things sometimes. 21. Besides the change in size, what other changes have you seen in yourself? Are the changes for the good or bad? I'm more postive I'm not Pollyanna but am postive. The depressions I have aren't as deep as they used to be. 22. What has been the easiest thing since surgery? Saying no I don't want anymore I'm full. 23. What has been the hardest thing since surgery? Still Emotionally Eating 24. What remains a struggle for you? Emotional Eating 25. Do you drink with meals? Nope 26. Do you drink carbonated beverages? Not anymore I heard that they can stretch your pouch out and I don't want that. 27. Do you drink alcohol?Not anymore I found out I liked it too much 28. Do you intake protein supplements? If so, how much per day. I drink 1-2 protein drinks a day 29. How has the surgery effected your relationship with spouse or significant other? He compliments me when I'm not around 30. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your family? They are very supportive 31. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your friends? Not really changed that 32. How has the surgery effected your relationship with your coworkers? I don't have any coworkers I'm on disability 33. If you could pass along advice "been there, done that" to pre-ops, what advice would it be? Stick to the plan your doctor gives you. 34. What is your favorite forum on OH? (Hint, hint) Maysters of course 35. Who has inspired you in your journey the most? Is it someone who know who has had the surgery? Is it someone's profile that you track? Is it someone from your local support group? There is a lady in my support group that was over 600lbs and she is doing awesome. I'm very impressed with her and she helps keep me on track.
