Topic: RE: How much have YOU lost
On the day of surgery, I weighed 268 (from an all-time high of 296). I now weigh 155, so I've lost 113 lbs since surgery.

Have you tried the power crunh bars that are advertised on this website? THEY are FANTASTIC!!!!!
I've not tried the protein bar you've mentioned - but if you get the chance - order some of them they're worth the money!!! They are my daily treat because they are that good!
Topic: RE: Doing Better, very few carbs
Your Welcome...I knew I wasn't the only one having problems losing...it is so slow. I was hoping to be losing at least 5 pounds a month, but that isn't happening anymore...I think it's that time where we really have to work hard for our last few pounds.

Tricia,
Thank you for this post!!!! I have been struggling big time lately, not losing any more weight. I knew that the problem was too many carbs!!! Reading what you have done slapped me into reality........I know what I have to do........

Topic: Doing Better, very few carbs
As I posted the other day about sabotaging myself, I got back on the ball!!! I have really been watching my carb intake, and really watching my protein more. I have been drinking 2 protein drinks a day, and getting in 40 grams or less of carbs per day (and they are all from my good foods, no white starchy carbs any more) My calories have been from 850-1100. I had gained 6 pounds monday I was at 140, and now I am down to 133, and that is with my period. I know that that isn't any excuses, but I usually gain at least 3 pounds during my period. I was so happy when I stepped on the scale this morning and saw that if I really watch what I eat, and exercise I can continue to lose. So now I only have 3 more pounds till goal (130)!!! I am excitied and think that I get get there in a few weeks if I keep it up!
I have learned though, how to maintain....and that was eating a few carbs everyday. I wasn't gaining and I wasn't losing, until this past weekend when I got depressed and ate junk, junk, junk. Byut, I am past that.
I just wanted to post this so that others can see that if I can do it, so can you. I know that I am not the only person on OH struggling. So I hope this helps some people out.
Yesterday I ate:
B - 8 oz carb countdown skim milk and protein shake (unjury) total 30 grams protein
S - 2 oz of taco meat( just the meat, no shell, and it was lean ground beef) - approx 13 grams protein
L - another protein shake 30 grams protein
D - a 1 egg denver omelet approx 14 grms protein
I also had for desert a sugar free ice cream bar (that's where my 10 carbs came in)
This was approx 920 calories and 98 grams of protein. I drank 70 oz or more of water and decaf ice tea, no sweetner. If I keep my caloreis under 1100 and my carbs under 40, I can still lose weight, and that is what I have learned this past week.

I'd have to agree with John's response. If you enjoy them have one now and then for a treat but try to get protein in other ways. Have you talked to your doctor or nutritionist about trouble with protein? Maybe they can help. Take care,

Hey Maggie,
Thanks for the compliment! I'm still working at it and hope to shed 10 more and say I did meet goal.

My general rule of thumb is about 110-120 max for 10 g of protein. The sugar is a bit high as are the carbs. You can do better with other products. I mean with the yogurt shake you describe you can double the protein for about the same calories.
Remember the kind of protein is very important too. You should be going for high quality protein like whey protein isolate.
If you really can't get in any other better protein I suppose the PayDayPro is better than nothing. But, I would look for something better. I would not have more than one bar a day.

Topic: Opinions about PayDayPro bar?
In my search for more protein, I stumbled upon this new
item in the store: PayDayPro. I am absolutely crazy about
them! However, here are the facts: 15 grams of protein,
240 calories, 19 total carb, sugars 13 gr.
I have a difficult time getting protein in because I do not
eat eggs or regular dairy due to intestinal problems.
I do drink 1 Carb Countdown yogurt shake in the am which
is 100 calories and 13 grams of protein.
Can anyone tell me whether one or two of the PayDayPro
bars per day would be a major problem-- are they too high in
calories and carbs? My lunch and super consist of usually
5 shrimp or 3-4 oz of meat and vegetables.
Thanks!
