Thanks guys! I took both of your advice and it seems to be helping. I also went to a different salon and had them give me a cut that would be more flattering for the perm since I'm pretty much stuck with it for at least a few months. I can honestly say I no longer want to cry every time I look in the mirror. I'm going to continue the conditioning treatments and hopefully in addition to loosening the curl, it'll repair the damage to my hair.
Keep your fingers crossed! Thanks again for the great ideas!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Debbie,
Wow 10 pounds from goal. That is great success. I am currently 20 pounds from originally goal of 150 and 35 pounds from my next goal of 135. However, i am very happy with my weight loss and would do this again in an heart beat. I am now looking into plastic surgery. My PS says that if i lose too much more, i will look sick. I really don't think so and feel i could lose the 20 pounds or so.
Have a great one.

Jessica . Go today and get you a tub of cholestoral treatment . You can find it at Walmart . It is in a little round tub . not real little . but any hoo.. slather this on and leave it there . It is a conditioner and it will help to loosen some of the curl . Do not wait . I used to have really long hair and when I would get a spiral perm and it was too tight that is what I did . I too used to be a stylist and that is would I would reccomend to those that thought the curl was too tight .
If you can not find the cholestoral ..get some hair conditioner .. Pantene .. anything .. but I swear the cholestoral will work . Leave it on for as long as you can stand it .. keep doing it every night until it loosens up .
I am so sorry .. it will grow out .. sweety .. Let me know how it turns out .
Hugs,
Nat

Jessica, As a former hair stylist I would say a short cut may be best however you would probably still need the frizz ease. If you decide to keep your length I would say wash hair conition hair put on frizz ease while hair is towel dryed pretty damp use a hair pick only ,run through hair to the style you would like then use hands only to scrunch stop, and don't even touch the hair until COMPLETELY dry. then scrunch only with fingers if at all,put on hair spray to keep hair from expanding, good luck it will be fine. also if stylist didn;t give you what you wanted ask them to help you with repair procedures, Best wishes Marcia email me with your phone number if I can help with further explanation

I've been in a funk for a while now and thought I needed a change. I have straight hair and so I thought it would be fun with my skinny face to go curly. I was all excited yesterday morning as I was getting a 'loose perm'. This excitement quickly turned to horror when the rods came out and I looked like a POODLE! I'm not kidding. The frizz is out of control, there are very tiny curls, and once it dries - its get about a foot wide! I don't know what to do.... I called the salon this morning and they said all I can do is wait it out because if I have it chemically taken out, my hair could and most likely would be seriously damaged and would start falling out (again). I bought some frizz-ease but it hasn't worked so far. I just tried hot rollers and that got my hair HUGE! I finally gave up and threw it in a pony tail. This is the best its looked since I got home and that isn't saying much.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with a bad perm? I can't go to work looking like this tomorrow. I don't even want to leave the house with this monstrosity on my head. Its bad enough I've been feeling so down about my weight loss slowing down to a stop but now I have this to deal with. Help me please!!!
Horrifically yours,
Jessica

Hi, all~*~*~*~
Wow, it seems like I am back in the loop again. My weight is stable, but I had a few days of 'non cooperation' with everything--now I am back!!
What got me going was SILLY and well, I shouldn't be afraid to reach GOAL!! I am not far (10 lbs or so) to where I think I'd look very good. I look good NOW and well, I need to jump start myself again to get going!!
I had to 're-remind' myself of WHY I can cross my legs, WHY I can walk across the parking lot without huffing/puffing...etc.
Been watching DR 90210 and the plastic surgery stuff. That isn't in the cards for me (affordability)..so I got a bit down and said, "What the heck?" Why Should I continue working toward my goal?" Isn't that SOO wrong?????"
My best to all today !!

THERE IS A WINDOW??? I didn't know that?! What happens after 18 months? We cannot lose anymore? I still want to lose another 37#'s - does that mean I need to do it in 2 months? I'm 16 months out now.

What a magical moment! I had someone at work say, "I don't look cute in jeans like you do" to me. Me? Cute in jeans? I wrote it down for my low days.
I feel beyond grateful that I was able to have this surgery and be liberated from the misery of morbid obesity.
Thanks for sharing your moment!

Natalie,
Hang in there. I wish a had a solution for you..I also had surgery in May around the same time as you.
Has your surgeon had any suggestion? Is there a dietician you can talk to?
I LOVE your posts and hearing from you. Here's hoping you're feeling better soon.

Topic: Dressing up
Hi everyone how are youall doing. things are going good a few hiccups but all fixable. the other day my sister and i went to a store that sells evening gowns and real fancy dresses, we just wanted to play dressup not bad for 2 women over 50 we never got the chance when we were young. so here we are in the changing room with these wonderful dresses that we could never afford giggling like two silly kids.THEN i saw it the most BEAUTIFUL Dress i have ever seen it was white with sequins snaking up from the bottom and around the back up over the shoulder and over one breast HO MAMMASITA"S it was breath taking i put it on they only had a size 4 it fit just a little snug though it was floor length and just flowed like a soft breeze and made a little swooshing sound when you walked. There was this lady trying on dresses for her daughters wedding and she said to me " HO i envy your size you look beautiful ME she was talking to ME !! I looked at my sister and we just smiled at each other my sister told this lady that i had had surgery and showed her an old picture of me this lady's chin hit the floor she said she had seen it on tv but never believed any of it !! she was truly in shock. it just made me feel so lucky that i was able to have this surgery
and be well. thank you god. needless to say the the fantasy dress had to go back on the rack as this cinderellas' checking account laughed out loud, maybe one day !! have a great day everyone.
