I haven't (yet) but I know my surgeon regularly performs this surgery, especially when there's a hernia to be repaired. He does not create a bellybutton, and while he makes an effort to make it look good, it isn't the same as having a plastic surgeon do it. I will probably end up going to him if I want to have it paid for by insurance, as I have a small hernia that needs repair. Hugs, Susan

Topic: Recipe Pleas !
I had bariatric surgery 5/4/2004 and have lost 140 pounds ! Since the surgery is a life changing experience and it is a definite lifestyle change for the rest of our lives finding new and tried and true recipe favorites is important to us all ! I know I always look at a recipe and wonder not only whether I will like it but will my family like it so I won't be cooking two different meals and it would be great if I could have had a cookbook BEFORE surgery so I wouldn't have to be scrambling around for recipes a year later still ! I am using my weight loss foods as a way to introduce a whole new healthy lifestyle that my whole family can benefit from I am in the process of making a cookbook and selling it to help raise funds. I need your help though ! I would like your best lowfat and low sugar (post bariatric recipes) both ones you have tried and loved and ones you have made up and found to be great yourself and that your family even liked ! I am not looking for RIGHT AFTER SURGERY but rather recipes that we can eat further out for the rest of our lives. Anyone who submits recipes, would get credit for them in my cookbook(please send your name with recipe). I also am going to put contributors names in a hat for each recipe submitted for an actual cookbook.( I am going to be giving around 10-20 of them away depending on the amount of contributions I receive) .I am going to have all different types of sections, including kid sections and holiday/entertaining sections and am aiming to have over 500 recipes in it ! A little something for everyone ! My organization name is DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS and it is going to be a scholarship fund for my kids plus 10% is going to be given to MUSC's bariatric department ( it is a teaching hospital) ! It is something I have been thinking of for quite a while so most of it is planned out but I am open to suggestions ! Ideas of where to market and sell it ( I would have loved to have had a book like this prior to surgery so I could know what I had to look forward to !) ? I know there are scads of recipes on the internet but I really want this cookbook to be a homemade cookbook from actual bariatric patients ! I love the old church cookbooks ( they are my favorites) and so I want to make this one sort of like that one- with handed down recipes as well as newer twists on them! Do any of you know of any other sites where I could maybe solicit recipes from friends, or do you have friends that may be interested in helping me out in my endeavor ? Or would you like to see YOUR name in print?!LOL After they are published (beginning of January) ,I will be able to put them on a website so you can see some of the recipes ! Thanks for any suggestions you may have for me and keep up the GREAT work ! It is a change for life and so worth it ! XOXOXOXOXO Kathy PS You can either email me the recipes at kath2224@aol.com or email me and I will send you my snail mail addy !

Tricia, guess what? I mentioned how I had the plastic surgery consult today. Well....it is going to be much cheaper than I had origanally thought. 14,000.00 :party; That includes lower body lift, inner thigh lift, pannelectomy including tightning of muscles, and breast implants...not lift required at this point. I am so excited about this. Now this is still higher than Brazil..but if I can stay in the US and be near MY Dr. for follow up visit's that is what I will do. It is about 5,000.00 higher, but hey that is worth peace of mind. Plus I really thought a lower body lift alone was around 20,000.00...so I am happy! Brenda

Julie, It was so good to see your post. I too have been MIA. Gosh time fly's by so fast. Well, like most of us, I am NOT a good example of post WLS eating! Here is what I had today. Lunch...a tv dinner snack..baby ruth candy bar. Coke snack..piece of pepper cheese coke snack..nother piece of cheese snack..nother piece of cheese Dinner..piece of swiss cheese, and a couple pieces of roast beef. snack..a bite of cherry pie, which I am sure I will finish before bed, with another piece of cheese I do get ALOT of protien in, only becasue I am addicted to cheese. I am more than willing to do the food diary again. Take care Brenda
