My surgeon routinely does hernia repair and tummy tuck at the same time; he says it's easier to get insurance coverage of the tt if you are fixing a hernia. For a hernia the size you've been dealing with, I can't imagine that a TT would be much harder to recover from. Sorry to hear you've had such a bumpy ride! I hope things are smooth and easy for you from here on out. Hugs, Susan

It is good to hear updates, we have all really slowed down but I am glad that we can still check in from time to time it really helps me. I am doing very good, I am about 100 lbs. down and have been there since about last Nov., I had a lot of fear about maintaining the loss but have not had too much trouble. I eat things I shouldn't almost everyday but it is amazing to me how I just naturally have started avoiding things that make me too sick ****cream, caffiene, etc.) I went through a really angry period of time and felt like I was also having all these just crazy mood swings.....then realized that I was in many ways I was actually just retuning to normal..I was getting my period again after 10 years without it!!!! and that is a BIG adjustment for me and my poor husband & kids...now I see it coming better and can get a grip. Overall though I am sooo happy and soooooo thankful!!! Going to Christmas parties is not an awful thing anymore! I wore a fun sparkly top this year and people told me over and over how good I looked, I LOVE that! I love when someone who hasn't seen me in awhile sees me, I will be bummed when I run out of people to do a double take Well that's my 2 cents peace and love to all! an my all your plastics be approved in the new year !!!! hee hee Lisa

Hi Becky! A lady from my church had the same problem, she was eating all the time and never feeling full. She went to her doctor and her stoma had stretched out and that's why she was eating all the time. If you are not getting full, you might want to check this out. If you are just snacking, maybe you are bored and need a hobby. But the advice given previous to mine is very good advice also. Best of luck to you!! Laura

Hi, I don't know if you like protein powder, but it is a sure way to get your protein in every day, at least once a day. I buy mine from Vitalady.com. She has sample packs to try different flavors before you invest in a big jar. Other than that, I try to eat protein first, usually chicken, cheese, etc. Best Wishes, Verdonna

Hello out there, Wishing all a Happy Holiday Season! I am coming back to basics today, getting in touch with all WLS folks. Just 18 months ago I had a GRDS by Dr. Keshisian, 05/20/04. After three months and 80 lbs lost I got hit by a big rig and seriously injured, 8/21/04. After the accident my weight loss stopped for three weeks. Around 10/1/04 I developed a stomach abscess that had to be lanced twice and then a HUGE hernia from under my breasts to my pelvis! Followed by low calcium, low iron, low B12, chronic depression, fatigue, anxiety and a neck surgery to fuse 3 vertebrae from the accident. I know hernias are fairly common after WLS but I am thinking that getting hit in the rear at 60 mph by a big truck may have caused mine? Any ideas? I would like to get a hernia(s) repair and tummy tuck at the same time; anyone do this? Verdonna - Lost a total of 115 lbs

Do you use fitday? If not, sign up at fitday.com I use it alot, it has lots of foods in there, and you can add your own when you need to. I do not have lists of proteins, I usually look on contents of food, or use fitday to figure it out. Good luck. Tricia

Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I haven't posted in months... but I've only lost 90 pounds and now I am constantly snacking. I get sad when I see how much other's have lost but I realize that I haven't pushed myself as much as I need too. I am going to try getting back in to the habit of 4-6 small meals a/day/ By eating healthy foods every 3-4 hours... I wont have space for the "bad stuff". You should try it and let me know how it works for you Tish

Topic: Sinus Surgery this Friday....ugh
Ok...well, I'm 17 months post-op from Open RNY...had an incarcerated hernia repair and MRSA staph infection 6 weeks later, then another hernia repair 2 months after that....then I had my tummy tuck and 3 more hernia's repaired on January 12th of this year....I hoped that I would be able to make it at least a year without any more surgeries, but just my luck, my ongoing sinus infections prompted a CT scan which I had yesterday, and now I am scheduled for sinus surgery this coming Friday. Hopefully it will take care of the major problems I've been having...severe sinus pressure leading to major headaches, then nausea and passing out. Anyway, hope you all have a nice Christmas...I'll be 2 days post-op at that time, and hopefully things will go well. Andrea
