Topic: RE: Stapled or transected? Any weight gain, etc?
I had part of my stomach removed due to a complication during surgery...consequently, my stomach was not as small as they normally make them...which means, I am losing a lot slower than most. bummer!
But, no problems...other than the slow weight loss!!

Topic: Stapled or transected? Any weight gain, etc?
Just wondering if any of you that have been just stapled, as opposed to transected, have had any difficulties, staple line disruption or weight gain after your WLS?
Topic: RE: Rule on Asprin?
I know aspirin is out as a general rule however that being said I take 1 baby aspirin a day 81mg because I have had 2 TIA's (stroke like symtoms no damage)both my surgeon and PCP agree with this treatment, blood clots are life threatening. I had one TIA years ago and one 3 months after my surg probably because I wasn't taking my aspirin. Just my 2 cents.Marcia Good luck with that

How much have you lost? I am down 45 pounds which is good seeing that I just got to my sweet spot this week. I have had every complication associated with the band, turned port, infected port, removed and later replaced port. So I feel I'm doing Great how about all of you?

Cassie we were told absolutely no aspirin, but we are allowed
to take Tylenol products (including the cold remedy ones).
Your surgeon should have provided you will a list of all medications
which are prohibited for the rest of your life- I know mine gave me
2 typewritten pages of them. Very extensive list. Without a stomach,
we are not producing enzymes and any anti-inflamatories could
eat away at the delicate "pouch". This is what I was told.
Maybe a nurse or medical person online can go into more detail.
Good luck!

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! Make that QUADS now as I am also a May 11th
baby. It was definitely the day of my re-birth.
Shele, I also started drinking an extra Hood Carb Countdown yogurt
smoothie every day for the past week and I finally went down a half pound. They have 13 grams of protein- I get them at Giant Eagle
for 1.89 each and I like the Peach best.
Hugs,

Well I just had to join the multi re-birth club. I'm another May 11th. And what a ride the past year has been. Wouldn't have traded it for anything. I started off bigger than most of you, but I'm no less proud and excited to be where I am now. Started at 410 pounds and I've lost 157 pounds so far. Still have about 80 to go, but I'll get there.
I just wanted to wish all my fellow "sisters" a happy day and congratulations on all your success. May 11, 2004 was definitely a great day for all of us.

I didn't think we could take it, I would call the surgeon right away, since the other doc wants you on it, But maybe with close supervision they will say it is ok? Good Luck!
