Topic: RE: Either we are failing or so active we don't have time
I agree with you. I am 7.5 years out and I have been gaining as well. I just entered menopause at the time of my surgery..grrr. I have watched calories and finally came to the conclusion that the only way I can lose any weight is to eat less than 1100 calories a day, which is very difficult. Do you think our bodies got used to such a small number of calories that anything over that turned into weight gain??
Topic: Either we are failing or so active we don't have time
Personally, I am failing big time. I'm gaining the weight back and I am so ashamed. I swore I would do everything to keep off the weight. Then three little boys came along and I stay home with them and do nothing all day but take care of them. I want to get a revision but they won't because I am not 100 pounds over.

You are just across the bridge from me. lol I'm in Louisville. I went up to 165 so far after Christian. I stay at home with three little boys so I know where you are coming from. With them being at home all day long, it is hard to find time to exercise. I'm having trouble dropping starches. I can't eat sugar. I dump from that. My weight gain is from not doing anything but sitting on my butt. I gotta figure out something.

Wow, I see I didn't keep up on my wonderful experience. It has been 7 years now. Today, I weigh only 121- 126 lbs. I don't think I had this weight even as a teen. I feel fantanstic. I did gain weight when I didnt stay on my life change eating habits! (Stress of doctoral educational program and started eating unhealthy). I noticed as soon as I began eating breads and carbs my weight increased. When I was shocked to be at 156 lbs 2 years ago I started jogging daily. I lost 10 lbs right away. I thought ok, now I am at 146 and that is only 15 up and I am ok with this. However, I wasn't hungry anymore and I continued to decrease my weight to 119 lbs. As of today 11/26/11 I am at a steady weight of 123 lbs. I am very proud of this and continue to eat limited carbs, high protein and veggies. I have to stay away from bread, pasta etc. My favorite food to eat is greek yogurt, fresh fruit and high protein granola! I hope for everyone to have success in their surgery and good outcomes as well. You have the power!

I am here although I have not loggen on in a very long time. I think I am going to have to start paying more attention to my diet. My husband died a little over a year ago and things have not been good. I had to take take care of him for several years and had slowly started to put the wieght back on. I just did not have time to take care of me. Well, I have to start taking care of me now!! I have gained almost all of the weight that I had lost and I am very discouraged. I just got out of the hospital with a blood clot in my leg, so now I have to get busy and up my exercise. I need help and support, so I decided to get back on here and talk to people that know more than I do about it. Thank you for letting me vent.

I also did great for a few years. I had a wonderful twin pregnancy only gaining about 25 lbs. I actually started putting on weight after I had the babies. I think I ate out of stress and being tired all the time. My kids are four now and I'm up to 200 lbs. My lowest weight was 145. I'm kicking myself for putting the weight back on. My energy is not optimal, my hubby works 2nd shift so I'm home with the kids all night by myself. I find myself having some beer and salty snacks after putting the kids to bed. Both my hubby and I have had the roux en y and put weight back on. It's hard to stick to the protein only diet because even though I like meat, chicken, fish more than carbs my hubby requires starches, gravies, "slider foods" at meals or he will get sick. I also find myself just addicted to sugar lately. Got to get a handle on that... hope more from May 2004 check in!
Topic: RE: Stuck Steak and Pouch Pain
The same thing happens to me now and again. Certain foods will get stuck and then I burp and want to vomit and am uncomfortable for hours until it finally passes. I can't eat spaghetti noodles either-if I want spaghetti, I have to eat angel hair pasta. I guess on the up side it means that my pouch is still intact!!

I check in every now and then, but not often. I have gained almost 50 pounds over the past 2 years and feel awful about it, but can't seem to put a lid on my eating. I don't exercise either! I am going to make a serious effort after the holidays though! I still feel WAY better than before I had the surgery, but am terribly disappointed in myself for letting things get this far.
