I am in need of the ole tummy tuck and wondering if anyone has had any luck with WEA insurance. I think the extra rolls add to my back problem and I have skin break down etc. I have heard my insurance will not pay but I am wondering if others have had any success appealing or presenting solid cases up front??? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

HI Lisa, Well, I haven't had a TT, but do have some info. Just last night I went to my Dr support group and this was the topic. The main suggestion is "back up back up back up". Do you get any rashes, etc? Take pictures, call your dr for ever little mark that pops up, keep receipts for every cream or ointment you need to use. Keep a diary noting things like pain in back, how skin folds up under you, it pinches, etc. They emphasized this is the type of thing that helps get a TT approved.... of couse, they do NOT call it a TT, but a "panellectomy" (sp?). It is VERY important that whatever Dr you go to specializes in Bariatic patients. Yes, we are different than other PS patients, and they know how to word things for the insurance and get better approval rates. Hope this helps a bit. Regards, Pam rny 5/13/04 268/155 maintaining

I had a TT in Feb. 2005, less than one year out from my GB surgery. My insurance was United Healthcare POS. I used Dr. Marissa Lawrence in Atlanta, and they approved the whole thing. I did not pay a dime. I didn't have to appeal or anything. I belive my insurance's only requirement was that I had lost 100lbs, which I did. 306 lbs. (05/2004) - 185 (1/3/2006) and maintaining
