Back from Shriner's
We got back from Philly on Sunday night. Miranda came through the surgery VERY well and had very little pain. The morphine and the codeine really seemed to make things WORSE because they made her paranoid and crazy and she complained much more of pain while under the influence of either/both. When she got down to Tylenol alone, she was much more herself and didn't report much or any pain.
Her incision runs the full length of her spine, and she looks really really good. She's down to just steri-strips covering the incision and most of those are peeling a bit. I'm not sure how much correction they got, as the films I saw hadn't been officially measured, but she grew more than an inch as a result of surgery.
She's getting so much better each day now. She's up and down off the floor by herself, getting in and out of bed, and today I let her go to her best friend's house for a playdate. She won't be cleared for much more than indoor play and games for the next six weeks, but she's really just doing GREAT.
I spent most of the week snacking (BAD SUSAN) out of the most dreadful boredom you can imagine. I didn't gain any weight, for which I am grateful. I'm back home and glad to be back to my routine. I'm just so WORN OUT from the stress and the endless servitude to the little princess.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and your support. We are truly blessed to have so many people care about us and wish us well.
Big hugs,
Susan
