Gall Bladder to be removed
Well - I wanted to share that I have had a very successful first year Post Op and wouldn't change ANY of it for any reason. I'm now a year and a week post op and wound up in the ER last Friday with really bad pain in my right side.
It's been diagnosed that I have "sludge" on my gall bladder and that it will only get worse so I'm going to have to have it removed. I've heard it's quite common for the gall bladder to go bad after having weight loss surgery - and even more so for women. To add a third one - even MORE so if you're a woman who's ever used Birth Control. Well - I have all three of those issues.....so I guess it's about "par for the course."
My year has been a wonderful one. I've gone from weighin 350 to now weighing 187. My doctor said I'm about 30 lbs from goal and once I get most of that off he'll start doing the leg work on getting as much of the plastics approved as he can. That was REALLY good news because the skin issue is really beginning to bug me. I know I'm going to have to come off the hip for my breast work - but if he can get the tummy/legs area done I think I can swing the rest of it!
Anyway - I know it's been more than a year- but there's my update!
Take care everyone!
Much

Congrats! You look amazing
One year goes by so quickly! I just had an appointment on 5/25 with the plastic surgon and I need to get some documentation for previous skin issues from my PCP & OBGYN (I had problems with my belly hang when I was PG). She told me that If she can build a case she can more than likely get the belly approved. I was amazed to learn that I could possibly lose another 10 pounds in skin and easily drop a pant size. This journey has been truly amazing!
Good luck with your approval & Congratulations on having a sucessful year, minus the gallbladder issue of course!

Hi Dee Dee,
I had my RNY 05/14/04. I have gone from 278 to 162 - size 28 to 14P!
It has been an amazing year to say the least!
I had my gall bladder out last Mon 06/06/05. It was a nothing compared to what we have been through. I had laproscopic surgery by the same sugeon who did my RNY. I am a bit sore and tired but nothing too dramatic!
I have not been in touch with the 'group' @ OBHelp. I am going to try
to become involved. It really is important to talk with people who have had the experience.
Take care and Congratulations!

I did have my GB removed last Thursday - and man it took a LOT out of me to go through this. Each day is getting better - but I'm sore and tired of laying in bed.....but that's mostly because I'm not an unactive person - so sitting round while I heal isn't an option for me!!!
I'm glad I've gone through this surgery and wouldn't change a thing about it for the world!!!!
Much
