Fainting/lightheadedness

Ok...I'm almost a year post op....down just over 100lbs and at goal...a few weeks back I broke my toe...then I started having really bad headaches. The headaches have been pretty consistent over the past 2 weeks...and then starting yesterday I've been having lightheadedness and even had a fainting spell yesterday. I actually could have fainted 3 times, but I was able to stop the other 2 from happening since I could feel them coming on. Last week I thought maybe I was getting dehydrated or something, so I upped my fluid intake and it just seems to have made it worse. I've had normal labs...so I don't know what could be going on. I'm thinking maybe I have poor muscle tone or something, since I don't work out regularly...just walk and keep after my kids. If I'm malnourished, wouldn't labs show that? I'm just confused, because I had been doing really well, then all of a sudden over the past month I've been having these issues. Thanks for any input you can give me...yes, I have a call in to my regular doc...should I also call my surgeon's office? Andrea

Not to pry but could you be pregnant? Fainting and headaches can occur when you are pregnant.

Congratulations on your loss. I am now 1 year from my surgery (136 pounds less) and for the past three weeks I have been lightheaded and dizzy. I have been to my regular doc and have had my bloodpressure checked and it is not to low but not high either. They have suggested that I come in when I have some time and have them take my blood pressure laying down, sitting up, and then standing to see if there is something there. I would definately call your surgeon and check with him also. When was the last time your seen him? Also did they check your sugar level. It will cause headaches and lightheadedness, if it gets to low. Evelyn

Are you taking your vitamins regularly? If not that might be the cause. Also are you doing more? When we get dehydrated it is hard to get rehydrated. (Speaking from experience). If you are feeling yucky call your PCP and let them know how you are feeling they may tell you to up your meals and also the fluid intake and to take it easy for a few days. We are so much more active right now and we are expending what we are eating and more now. So thake those things in to account too! HTH! -Gerriann, Thin and loving it! 5/14/04 170 pounds gone forever!
