Just wondering if any of you that have been just stapled, as opposed to transected, have had any difficulties, staple line disruption or weight gain after your WLS?

I had part of my stomach removed due to a complication during surgery...consequently, my stomach was not as small as they normally make them...which means, I am losing a lot slower than most. bummer! But, no problems...other than the slow weight loss!! Jeannie

My surgeon doesn't believe in transecting. He says if there is a future problem there is nothing there to work with. So i still have my whole tummy just stapled! No problems so far thank GOD!! Lisa

My surgeon told me that with him....it depended on if you had it done open or lap. Open is only stapled and lap people had it transected. I had mine done open and I have had no issues at all. Julie S. 265/153/135 5'3

I had my RNY done open and was told by my surgeon that he transected my stoma. I am going for my 1 year visit at the end of may, when I get back from CALIFORNIA!!! I can't wait...anyway, I will ask him again to double check. Tricia
